I don't know why, but whenever I write poems or short stories, they always seem to fall into a rather sombre and sad theme

I also tend to be drawn towards dark and frightening imagery in my writing, and I consider myself quite an upbeat person. And I don't like scary movies or books, yet I write that way. Odd. I figure that my brain must need some kind of outlet for those impulses.
