Camping Silliness

Had a great couple of days in the Peak District with James, Wan and Catherine. Not the more serious walking I used to do with my family but more light ambling. I was quite pleased with my navigation skills, both with the road route and on the map for walking. Not without mistakes I admit and many pokes and laughs, but it all comes with practice after all.

Escaping a field of cows by climbing over the wall and then falling over, finding the most overgrown path surrounded by stinging nettles to walk into Dovedale and accidentally pushing Wan into some brambles and spraining his ankle were just a few highlights.

It's been great being able to hang out and being silly and laughing. We are older, all early twenties but we still have the hearts of rather giggly and silly kids, which is great and something I hope we never lose. It's not worth being a grown if you can't be childish about things sometimes, and being childish doesn't have to be irresponcible, just knowing how to have fun and not dismissing things just because we used to do them as kids and now we're growing up trying to be too old for it.

I'm looking forward to doing more exploring once I'm back in Liverpool, both in and out of town. I want to try out my own camping stuff and there are so many places to walk I'll never live long enough to get to themn all, doesn't stop me trying though! *g* I'd love to try some amateur bushcraft techniques too.
