Band... ugh
I don’t know what to say. I guess we’ve now established that every senior is pissed off and half of us are saying we are gunna quit. I'm more than a little pissed of at some of the stuff Wally said to Allison tonight... I guess all I can really do is say it how i see it.
Lets get our facts straight first...
2002: 6th Place: MCBA Finals
2003: 11th Place (missed finals by less than .25)
2004: 12th Place (missed finals by less than 2.0)
2005: Currently sitting in 11th place (.5 away from state finals)
I joined in 2003... ive never seen Clarkston win a single caption in a single category. ive never seen Clarkston finish in the top half at an invitational. We are LIKELY to do both of these Saturday at Linden. I know Wally came in and reworked the ENTIRE ending of the closer on colorguard. The only thing I can say is this. Our Visual Effect score was very poor on Saturday, and Lewis and Wally are trying to fix it... for about the 8th time. its absolutely reticules, I know we need to have a talk with him tomorrow, I also know he isn’t messing with the guard just to make himself laugh, he’s doing it because its in the best interests of the band. The 3 captains for guard need to go up to him tomorrow and tell him they absolutely can not change the drill again... I think he would listen.
Lifes being a bitch to all of us, i know. I know some of you are having a rough time in school so far, other are trying to find time for a social life with marching band, and we tell ourselves that its just to hard. Look, we don’t know what working to hard is in this band. We’ve spent the last two years not working hard enough, and now that the pressure is really on us, we are letting ourselves fall apart. Wally had no right to say what he said and do what he did today, but this band is better than to just destroy itself over a few idiotic moves by a instructor. Ive seen guard do amazing things this season. Ive seen how quickly we can pull off hard music in the band when we really want to. if we spent half the time and money Plymouth-canton did, we would beat them every season... but only if we care. The worst thing ive heard over the last few days is "I don’t care." When someone tells me that I just don’t know how to respond anymore, because I almost feel like I care too much. I can’t believe after all this work, after all the blown Saturdays, wasted Mondays and Thursdays. After paying money to sweat off a week of our summer, that someone can say that. I want to see us get all this junk together, and I want to see us go up to Linden and show everyone that Clarkston back. Were SUPOSED to win best marching on Saturday. If we can pull this closer off the way it should be pulled off, we should EXPECT to be fighting for first with Grand Blanc (who is about 5 points ahead of us right now)
Were a hundred times better than we are acting right now, and we all know it. Lets do this.
