Today was a really good day. ^.^
Went out with mom and the sibs to get Chipotle (cause it was national Chipotle day :P ) and then did a little bit of shopping. Found out I had dropped a pants size (woot!), and 2 tops that look really nice and I could wear to work. After that, I caught the Metro into DC with Julia P. and met op with her roommate Jess, and Jess's friend. We wandered around the mall a little bit, went in to one of the smaller museums, toured the sculpture garden and then looked at the Islamic festival that was apparently going on. Then it was back on the Metro to U street, where we wandered around and found the club we would be going to later. The four of us then waited for another friend Taj to show up. Upon her arrival, we went to Cafe Saint X for dinner.
OMG! Dinner was a little bit expensive, but SOOOOO GOOOOOODDDDD! I had roasted chicken with rosemary, and a chocolate sour cream cake. It sounds weird, but it was good. The cake part was a perfect light kind of chocolate that wasn't too sweet or heavy, but it wasn't bitter like dark chocolate can be. The whipped cream on top was where the sour cream came in to play, but even then it was pretty good. ^.^ After a lovely dinner was had by all, Taj, Jess and her friend all headed back to Metro cause they had to get home. Julia P and I went to the Black Cat club and waited around till about 9 till we could go in ad get tickets for the show we were there to see. The place was actually really nice. It was a fun cross between a college hang out, alternative bar and an indi club.
Around 9:20 or so they let us in to the stage area and the opening bad started their set. We were there to see The Submarines, and the opening act was a band called Headlights. They were a very happy surprise! I hadn't heard anything by them, but they are actually really good. I ended up buying their c.d. once the set was over. I couldn't sit still while they were on, and them band themselves were just so in to it! Watching them bounce happily all over the stage while they played made me smile and want to join in. ^.^ Plus the girl on keyboard and vocals was ADORABLE! The Submarines were really good too. The two bands are in the same category, just different spectrums. Headlights were bouncy and fun, The Submarines were more stand still and wiggle dancing (if that made any sense to any one :P ). The girl in The Submarines was actually pretty cute too. (Doombunny, if you are reading thins, I was thinking that I should call you and let you know that it was a tazer day for me :P ) But both bands were just really fun to watch and listen too. After the concert it was an uneventful but content trip back on the Metro and then talking to dana and mom for a little bit.
All in all, It was a really good day. ^.^ Hope all of my flist is having good days too.
