[Christmas night, late]

It took a while, for Demyx to catch Axel on his own. It doesn't really surprise him, as he's pretty sure half the point of this trip is to be a distraction from people leaving, and being alone wouldn't help that at all. Still, it was harder than he'd anticipated, thanks to Isa sticking to Axel like glue and sending off some vibes that heavily implied that he didn't want Demyx anywhere near him. Which Demyx shouldn't have been surprised by.

So, when he finally got around to it, it was late. Really late, to the point of most everyone probably being asleep. After months of living with him, though, Demyx was pretty sure Axel would be awake. Still, to be safe, he knocked rather quietly on the door of wherever Axel was staying. "Axel?"

One of the downsides to visiting other worlds was the difference between how they and Nautilus functioned, especially after having lived there for so long. Not all of the differences were bad, of course; most of them were familiar differences, and almost reassuring to notice. But there was something to be said for not feeling hunger in the City of Change (unless one thought they would, of course). And there was definitely something to be said for not strictly needing sleep in Nautilus.

Here, however, Axel couldn't simply stay up all night without consequence. And so, when the knock came on the door of the room he was staying in, Axel was in the process of trying to get comfortable. Which, for him, meant ensuring that he absolutely would not roll onto his back. It was a process that bordered on downright annoying, and he was just fine with the interruption

"Hey." Demyx smiled a little- it was kind of nice to see him without Isa attached to his side, even if the shirtless was a little unexpected (not that he minded). "Can I come in for a minute?"

"Yeah, sure." He stepped back out of the way, allowing Demyx room to enter before he'd close the door behind him. "Everything alright?"

"Yea," Demyx said, nodding as he walked in and then turned to look at Axel, "Just, um, haven't really seen you today and..." He holds up a little box and hands it to him. "Merry Christmas."

The surprise on Axel's face was impossible to miss. He hadn't expected any sort of gifts, especially since they weren't in Nautilus - unless, perhaps, someone made use of the presents on hand. Maybe that's what Demyx had done.

He reached out to take the box, muttering as he did so, "You've seen me today." After all, Axel had hardly been alone since they'd arrived.

After a moments pause, he looked up from the box, a shadow of discomfort marring his expression. "I, ah. I haven't exactly done gifts."

Meaning that, he had nothing to give Demyx in return. Between Naminé returning to Sleep, Roxas' departure shortly after, the sudden arrival of so many from their world, and then the sudden disappearance of all those arrivals ... the most Axel had done in regards to Christmas was getting to this town.

Demyx shrugged at the first remark- he hadn't seen Axel in any way that he was comfortable giving a gift to him. Namely, in private. As for the second, he just smiled. "It's ok," he said, "I just wanted to get you something." He... kind of needed it, after the time he'd been having, Demyx thought.
