... And yet, Ven didn't even know that his own friend was here now... It wasn't just the residents of the Castle anymore. It was this man, from their world, who claimed to be Ven's friend. Maybe one of the ones he'd mentioned before... They would find out for sure who he was if when Ven woke up, though... Until then, the man was harmless, having just arrived and lost all powers he'd possessed back in their world.
Axel's voice broke the silence of the crowded room. It wasn't an unheard of thing; Roxas actually found comfort in hearing the redhead speak in times of uncertainty. Even though he was merely reiterating the fact that they had almost no idea what in the universe was going on, he was still speaking. He was checking in. He was there.
The blond (conscious) Keybearer looked up at his friend, then stole a glance at the surrounding crowd. Then he looked back at the mirrored image of his very self laying in the bed without motion.
Roxas shook his head. "No... Not yet," He replied, taking in a deep breath.
Staring into Ven's face, he felt himself get lost in what was almost thought; an abstract state of self and... something else.

Every day, he kept hoping he would come in and see some sort of change for the better. But, so far, there was still nothing. Ven was on the bed, still just as asleep as he had been all the days before.
Sora sighed, still keeping quiet. The worst part about it was that the more time he spent there, the more that he felt as if there was something he should know. Something that could help, but that he couldn't remember. That feeling had been growing, and, as he stood there, he tried his hardest to think. Was it something he had forgotten, or something that he was being reminded of? Or both?
But there had to be a way to fix this. Ven couldn't just stay like this forever. The way he was sleeping, it was as if he would never wake up. It was almost like...
"...you know, it's a lot like when Kairi lost her heart. No matter what, she just laid there and slept - she wouldn't wake up." That was it! That was what he was thinking of!

His own concern over this whole thing was ... oddly muted. It was strange: he should have been feeling more about this. It wasn't as though his friends weren't nearby, after all. But for some reason, he simply wasn't as concerned as he should have been. It was as though there were something missing, but it was ... faint. Just enough of a nagging annoyance to be a distraction.
Sora's statement pulled Axel from his thoughts, and he looked over at the brunette, a frown crossing his features.
"But she was a pretty unique case, wasn't she?" he asked. "Something about being a Princess? Ven's definitely not that."
Reply
"That's right. Her Heart doesn't have any Darkness. That's what makes the Princesses of Heart so special. But...that's all I can think of."
He wasn't sure what he meant by that, exactly. He tried to think, absentmindedly staring off to the side and scratching the back of his head as he did so. Ven couldn't be the same as Kairi, right? But, then, what could be wrong with him? If he had just been hurt in a fight or something back home, he would've woken up right now.
So then...what?
"Maybe it's not exactly the same, but what if there really is something wrong with his heart?"

"I suppose the only person, who'd know that for sure, is Xehanort."
Reply
"Is there a way we could figure out if that's it?" he asked. There was probably something, at least with Bending...

Then what did Xehanort have to do with all of this? And which Xehanort was it - the Keyblade Master Ven told him about...or the one whose Heartless and Nobody he had fought? Over this mess of thinking, Demyx's question barely even registered.
He just didn't know. It was all so confusing.
"Xehanort?" he asked, hoping that Terra would explain. From the tone of Sora's voice, it was more than clear that the name meant something to him.

In short, not Axel's favorite topic of conversation.
"Always comes back to him, doesn't it," he muttered, abbreviated eyebrows furrowing while he tried to bite back the anger thinking about that revelation still brought forth. Even if he and Xemnas had gotten along ... well, well enough during Axel's recent memory-lapse, that anger was far from gone. He doubted it ever would be.
His eyes turned from Terra to Demyx. "Could always ask the next best thing," he suggested, "if Xehanort would know."
The next best thing, of course, being Xemnas.

"Xehanort. An old Keyblade Master, that probably should have lost the right to that title a long time ago." Because if anyone was even more unworthy of it than Terra, it's Xehanort. "I... We were fighting him just before I was brought here."
His head turned sharply towards Axel, eyes narrowing. If Xehanort was here, shouldn't have sensed it by now? "What do you mean by 'next best thing'?"

Then what Terra said sunk in, and Demyx looked at him, clearly confused. "He was a Keyblade Master?" he asked, not sure if he could fully believe that.
Reply
"Keyblade Master?" he repeated, his words unconsciously joining Demyx's in perfect sync. No way. There was no way that Xemnas had been a Keyblade Master. It just wasn't possible.
... Was it?
