what happened to you

Who: Saix & Nautilus
What: This is the last time, so he says. Foreshadowing, and not just on one Nobody's fate.
Where: Nowhere.
When: No time.
Warnings: Oddness. To be expected, of the City of Change.
Notes: Closed log. Just a narrative.

There's a steady coldness in him. That much is evident. Saix had been complacent for awhile, keeping to himself and Miku. However, now things are repeating. While Axel can carry on with his merry little group, Saix bears the weight of losing whom he had deemed his best friend.

It was at a time like this, he was almost glad to be an Incomplete; there will be no grief for Miku. There is no point.

And so, he sleeps.

He dreams a dream.

And there he is again, in whatever way possible. Usually, the table is set and steady. Elegant, in its design. The smooth shell chairs were rougher now. The one sitting across from him usually has a firm form of some kind. This time, it's water, shifting and changing, loose and almost like a tsunami forced to crash into itself in the form of a man. No mask, no clothes. Just water.

The table cracks.

This is the last time, Nautilus speaks, words washing over Saix. Usually what should feel like peaceful sprinkles are now splashing over him, untamed.

"For what?" Saix mutters, firmly remaining in his indifferent state.

Below them, the water whirls into a pool, threatening to suck both of them in.

Isa, I cannot continue to give you what you seek. Not from me alone.

Saix scowls, gripping the armrests tightly. "I see. What did I do to offend you?"

There's a weak laugh, echoing shamefully, rippling out in the space they occupy. You did not do anything to insult me. I can only do what I am able to, and I know that I will not be able to help you after you open your eyes again. I speak to you now, because you and those of your realm know better of what to do when it comes to pass.

"Per usual, you speak in vagueness and riddles. That is very annoying."

It is impossible to define it. Please, the more we speak, the more I lose. Let me give you this last piece.

There's still a frown on Saix's face, but he nods reluctantly. A hand is formed from the mass of water before him, holding it out, palm-up. Slowly, a shard rises up, held out in offering.

Although you will not gain more from me, you will be able to receive from others in the city. You must step from your comfort under the roof, and seek out others. Learn experiences, and grow with their help. With this piece, you will appreciate the bond you have with your friend who will soon return to Sleep.

Hesitantly, Saix grasps the shard.

Farewell, Isa. Until we meet again.

While it seems Nothingness grows, it does not become an impossibility to face against.

His eyes open.

It hits him, what piece was given back to Saix this time. The berserker only wishes he could curse Nautilus for this.

Saix curls up onto his side and struggles with himself, trying to grit his teeth and brace against tears that wish to form as he experiences grief.
