Naturally, when he saw Squall's post, he didn't hesitate. He ran to the center of the city, knowing full well that this problem needed to be fixed. Never mind the fact that, as he got closer, that feeling that he couldn't identify (that he didn't really want to identify, for some reason), continued to get worse. He wasn't going to run away. He needed to help.
By the time he arrived at the center of the city, however, his pace had slowed to something much slower then his usual sprint. He didn't stop, though, until he was in sight of the gaping hole where the Heart's covering used to be. He didn't look at it for very long, though. There was something down there...and, yet again, he found himself not wanting to think about that any more then he had to.
He wasn't surprised to see that a bunch of other people were there already, too. That meant that Bending a new cover would be a snap, right? Nothing to worry about. It wasn't long before one person in particular caught his eye, however - a very familiar redheaded Nobody, looking like he was in just about the worst shape Sora had ever seen him in. Well, except for when...
That's right! It had been a long time ago, but Axel had been really messed up after ending up in the Labyrinth. If that's what that thing was, then...he was the last person who should have been there. He shouldn't have to deal with this!
Not alone, at least.
"Axel!" This time, there was no hesitation as Sora ran closer, right next to where Axel was standing. Recent mishaps aside, they were still friends - and right now, he needed help.

Even as exhausted as he had been, however, his attitude had never wavered. He'd fought like hell, and he'd been cocky to the last, even as he prepared to sacrifice himself. He'd died on his own terms, with a smile on his face.
Physical fatigue he could handle. But that's not what he was dealing with as he stood next to the Heart, trying to Bend the hole in it closed.
By the time that Sora called out to him, the Eighth was paler than ever. The purple tattoos on his face looked almost black next to sickly-white skin; wide, too-bright eyes stared at the hole in the Heart without really seeing it. He didn't know when he'd started sweating; didn't notice it, being too preoccupied trying to keep his vision from swimming and trying to get that place away.
In short, he looked like he was about to fall flat on his face.
He heard Sora call his name, heard it echo in his mind in a hundred different tones before finally registering. He blinked once, then again in an effort to clear his vision before finally turning his eyes away from the pit of darkness.
Sora. What was Sora doing here? He was doing this to keep that place away from the Keyblade master(s): what was he doing, running straight to it?
Roxas ran straight into it before.
That wasn't the same. This was Sora: look at his hair, not his eyes.
Questions formed on his tongue, half-formed objections that couldn't quite find a voice. In the end, all he could say was, "Sora?"
Very eloquent. Way to tell the kid to get away from danger.

"Need some help with that?" Sora asked, laughing and trying to keep his tone light. It wasn't easy in a place like this. In all honesty, being near that gaping hole was making him sick, his stomach turning in knots and loops around itself. It - whatever it was (Darkness? No, something worse.) made him nervous, maybe even a little afraid.
But he wasn't thinking about that. He wouldn't think about that. His only focus was on Bending the hole closed, his will working with that of Axel, and everyone else, to build a new covering. There was no way he was letting this thing get out of control, not with all the friends he had here. Thinking about everyone he knew - especially Kairi and Mitham, still waiting at home - all the people who could be hurt by this thing made him concentrate even harder.
And, if they worked together, Axel wouldn't have to stay there much longer, either.
"We can do this, right?" he said, the determination plain on his face.
