Darien never thought that he’d take it upon himself to be on time or attend anything that remotely resembled an organized mission. Especially now that, far as he was aware of, he found himself free from both the Agency, as well as the binds of the gland that tied him to the said aforementioned Agency. He found himself a little more surprised at his own nature by the minute, considering that he’d willingly plunged off the ledge of a bridge just the other day.

While he hadn’t been in town for very long, there was something definitely up with the western part of the city. Not only with it being the place he woke up in, which contributed to his piqued interests... But hey, one could always say he didn’t have much of an excuse not to check it out.

He’d reminded himself mentally that this was not like a regular job at home. When things got too hot, he was entitled to run. Every man for himself.

No honor amongst thieves.

When Darien arrived, there were already a couple of folks congregated at the entrance. Lara he already knew. The other guy... not so much. Darien wasn’t around to say he recognized any familiar faces. Either way, he was much earlier than even he had anticipated.

“Guess I’m one of the early birds for once.” Darien nodded at Lara. He was wearing sunglasses. As he’d mentioned to Leslie when they first talked, Darien had somehow found himself much more hypersensitive to light. He figured it had something to do with his recovering blindness. This didn’t accommodate in making him look any less of a shady character, but what can you do.

Prowl arrived, as always, in silence, slipping along rooftops, under tunnels, through back alleys and shortcuts. There was no warning, nothing to herald his approach as he stepped out of the shadows by the Western gate.

Folding his arms, he leaned against a nearby wall, keeping his thoughts to himself.

Klonoa was full of bounce, almost tripping over himself in excitement as he scrambled up to the others, grinning happily.
He was really looking forward to the trip; he hadn't done any proper exploring of a place wholly new since he'd arrived in Nautilus. It was the perfect chance!

Lara stopped pacing as the first few arrived. She gave them all nods of acknowledgment, and warmer smiles to Prowl and Darien. It wasn't that she was mad at the first arrival, whom she didn't know, but a little peeved that he did not tell her beforehand. Lara liked order, and preparation, and sudden arrivals could throw things. At least in her mind, it could throw things. She was about to introduce herself to Nash, when she stopped in her tracks. There was a small furry thing before her. It smiled warmly, in a way that threw Lara off even more. What the hell was it? This city...it did odd things. She shook her head and decided to address all those there at once.

"Thank you for coming, although we have a few more planned arrivals still on the way," she said, adding the slightest emphasis on the word 'planned.' "Your patience is very appreciated. For the two of you I haven't met yet, my name is Lara."

"Hi Lara!" Klonoa said enthusiastically, and offered a hand. "I'm Klonoa! It's really nice to meet you!"

Lilly had never been to either the northern or the western districts, and, just like her previous journeys, she found herself lost. It frustrated her to no end, especially when she was supposed to be on time and exploring with people she'd never met before.

She arrived only a few minutes late, though, through some sort of small miracle. Her sword, Platina, was sheathed at her side, and she was wearing her traditional outfit. She hadn't expected to see Nash, though, and simply planned on ignoring him. She eyed the other arrivals warily, making mental notes before taking a spot in the crowd.

"I do apologize for being late."

Batman was still studying the city when Lara's small group started to form. At first he didn't intend to go with them, nor to make his presence known. But then there was this whole Angelli business. And some part of him believed that it was now his duty to that group -to all of Nautilus- to take some part, however small.

He moved from his place in the shadows next to Prowl, also refraining from announcing his arrival. In that, he and the Cyberninja held something in common. But Prowl did pick an ideal location for the moment- close enough to the group to hear them, but still at a relatively comfortable distance. So for now, he supposed, they would wait.

Not as late as me! =p a_batastrophe September 4 2009, 05:31:45 UTC
Of course, the whole image is a little muddied when Batgirl lands right next to Batman. A quick slap on his back and smile ruined the whole stealthy image.

"Heya Bats. What's going on here? This the group for exploring the new city?"

For someone living in the Western District, Tally was remarkably late. That did not bode well for her sudden Angelii status. It made her look unreliable and totally brain-missing.

Upon arriving, Tally realized about the only person she really recognized was Prowl, and that was just from what Sari had told her. She really needed to get out more.

With the growing numbers in their strange and small group, Darien was starting to develop a little more confidence in this last minute idea. There were still plenty of sights he’d yet to see in the city, and the appearance of an entirely new neighboring city sounded like the great end to his week already.

Being unacquainted with any of these people on top of being the new guy, it only seemed somewhat appropriate (if not socially apt) to introduce himself, just as the Klonoa kid did. “Darien Fawkes.”

Now that he thought about it, there was also something vaguely familiar about... Batman?

Okay. Okay, maybe not Batman. Of course, not the Batman. Right?

That’s just crazy.

As crazy as the fact that there was a robot apparently joining their group, some kind of talking animal kid, and...

Darien, get a hold of yourself.

Concealing first impressions for risk of possibly offending anyone, he went counted their numbers so far instead: Nine. Seemed sufficient enough for a small exploration group. If anyone else came along, they’d have quite a party.

“Anyone thinking of splitting up? Might cover more ground that way.”

And retain what little of his sanity he suspected he might have left.

"Err...hello, Kloana. It's nice to meet you," she took the hand and lightly shook it before letting go, repressing the urge to wipe it off. It's wasn't as if she thought it was gross, it was the feeling of loose fur on her hands. Just as she turned to survey the now growing group she saw Lilly running up and smiled. Excellent. Only a few more left.
An excited voice drew her to Prowl's shadows, and she saw Batman as well as another unexpected visitor lurking. Although you really couldn't say the girl was lurking. She too wore a bat-like cowl and cape. Perhaps she was related to Batman? Just another question she shoved to the back of her mind; it was not necessary now. Tally came next, and Lara was even more relieved inside that they had the two Angelii with them.
Suddenly Darien spoke, probably just as anxious as she was to get a move on.

"Splitting up would probably be a wise idea. There would be more to cover and to report to each other on. However, there are a few more that said they would be here. It would be rude I think to leave without them."

Jogging up to the group, Leslie skidded to a stop next to Lara, waving to everybody. Getting to places was tough now that he didn't have a car anymore.

"I'm here!" he called. "I'm here. Shit. Sorry. I know I'm late. Lara! You get hugs."

Wrapping his arms around Lara's shoulders, Leslie snuggled from behind before quickly letting go. "Are we gone? Are we doing this bitch? What're we standing around for?"

Nash could tell right off the back that Lara wasn't all that pleased with his presence- or rather the fact that he'd just shown up. He raised his hands in a placating gesture, forcing a smile. "Oh, don't mind me- I didn't realize there was something going on, actually..." He glanced at the others that had started to arrive, noting at least a couple of familiar faces, even though it was the first time he'd be meeting Klonoa in person. He smiled briefly at the fuzzy one before looking to Lara.

"My name's Nash," he said, nodding to Darien as well. Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of Lilly, but judging from her how she didn't give him as much as a second glance, the Harmonian figured she probably didn't care to see him. Is she still upset about that?

Well. So much for remaining mostly unnoticed. Batman jolted a bit when Barbara thumped him on the back. He had heard her coming, of course -she really needed stealth training- but somehow he had yet to get used to this younger, more brash Batgirl. Annoying.

Refreshing.

"Yes," he answered her question. But you can't come. It could be dangerous. It was unlikely she would accept such a response. In a way, she acted somewhat like Tim; she was more likely to go anyway, when she thought he couldn't see her. "You're going to insist on coming no matter what, aren't you?"

He spared a, slightly disgruntled, nod at Lara. Splitting up would cover more ground. "I've already mapped everything that can be seen from outside the city," he offered. Although he hadn't duplicated the map, he carried it with him.

Prowl kept an optic on each of the newcomers, but did start slightly when Batgirl landed next to them. He leaned forward a bit and gave her a quizzical glance, but said nothing.

Lara was about to speak before the group again when she was grabbed from behind. Her eyes widened as knee-jerk instincts kicked in, and she raised her elbow to jab whoever was attacking her in the gut. Her defensive maneuver was halted, though, when she recognized the voice: it was Leslie. Strange, sort-of-like-the-retarded-cousin, Leslie. There was a moment where she thought she might want to continue with that jab, but he let go. She gave him an odd look, before continuing on with what she meant to say.

"We still are waiting upon V and Wreck-Gar, however we can start splitting into teams now, if people are agreeable to that. Perhaps two teams of five people?"
