((OOC: Fast-forwarded to Sunday, let's say...noonish.))
[See Bart. See Bart run. Run Bart, run.
It's been pretty exhilarating racing t-rexaurs in the Northern plains, but now he's decided to take a trip to the beach in the East. No need for swim trunks when you don't plan on getting wet. There's an island across the way that has to have

[She notices the red blur on the ocean below her and assumes it's Wally, hovering around to make sure she doesn't faint again. She considers calling to him to tell him to knock it off, she feels fine, when the blur stops and plunges into the water. And from the splashing, it looks like he can't swim.
[She jumps off the chain and concentrates on lengthening the line as she falls, slowly enough that the impact with the water won't be any worse than jumping in a pool.]
Hang on, I'm coming!
[As she'd hoped, the impact isn't jarring, but the sudden transformation of her legs into a mermaid tail is. She quickly regathers herself and starts swimming towards the kid, continuing to lengthen the line.]

...it wasn't working like he was expecting it to, and the water only seemed to make his already sluggish movements even more slow.
Then he finally began to realize that he was going to have to breathe sooner or later. Hmm. That could be tricky...
As he sinks and tries to hold his breath a little longer, he notices something (someone?) in the water above him.]
*Glurp?*
[...no Bart, not a good idea trying to speak when you're underwater.]

BUT AT LEAST HE CAN SWIM.
Opening his eyes, he sees Dana holding Bart. Thank God. He pops his head back up and Bends a hideous yellow inflatable raft to stick the dumbass kid on when she pulls him out.]

He flails his arms about, coughing.]
-salty..!

It's seawater, but it's safe otherwise if you know how to swim. Stay on the raft, keep your head above water; I'll get us back to shore.
[She hopes that's reassuring.]

Thanks, Dana.
And you! Didn't anyone tell you powers don't work when you show up? [fhjdrfkdske]

Wh-
Why not?? [There's your answer, obviously.]

Wally, can you explain while swimming? I think we should all get back to shore asap.
[Which, with her mermaid tail, wouldn't take as long as it would if she were using legs. She gave the raft a push and started towards the shore at a brisk pace, though slow enough for Wally to keep up.]

[Dana, you sure don't need to go slow for Wally of all people. He's gonna tread water/swim in front of you, backwards, so he can still chat with her and Bart.]
I dunno! That's just how it works! Now that we're winding the chains and taking the city away from pthhhleh [he spits out a mouthful of water. Bart was right. It's salty] chaos, powers're probably fading for the newbies, I guess.

But everything was fine when I got here. What're you talking about?

Not winding the chains anymore.
[She's still keeping her words clipped while pushing, but she's not spluttering on water, even when it's splashing her face.]

You know what I meant.
[Someone's sulking a little. He also might look like a wet hampster. Because he definitely didn't bother to change out of his jeans before rushing over and they're kinda heavy.]
I'll explain when we're [bleeeeh more water] not waterlogged.

Fine.

Almost there.
[And indeed, they were. She steered the raft towards a pier.]
