[Locked to Six]

Pato, give that back.

[Hey, Six! Have a picture of a puppy with reindeer antlers on his head. Holiday stuck them on there, simply because they amuse her to no end. But, anyway, the point. She takes the communicator from under the dog.]

Six. I talked with Caesar and... Christmas is here. It's, like, here. We have no tree. No ( Read more... )

[Six is not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. If it got her to initiate contact without any of that awkwardness, then he was going to take the opportunity.]

[He knocked on the door to her bedroom.] It's me. I got your message.

[Her and Pato both look over to the door. He jumps off the bed first, scurrying over there and leading the way.]

[She opens the door to see him.]

Sorry. I didn't know you were home.

It's fine. I've been in and out all day anyway.

[He glances over his shoulder.] I'm assuming you don't want this to be overheard.

[She takes a step back, letting Six inside.]

[Pato runs over and claims his spot at the foot of her bed... He just looks hilarious with those stupid antlers... God, it fits him, though.]

[Six raises an eyebrow at the floppy antlers but says nothing on the subject.]

You sounded a bit panicked over the lack of decorations.

[HEY...... HE'S ADORABLE. And he knows it, too.]

Well, yeah, a little.

[She starts her pacing routine again, Pato following her movements. You haven't seen panicked yet.]

I mean, we couldn't really celebrate at Providence, which is understandable, but this isn't Providence. It's... like... a home... and there needs to be some sort of Christmas going on here. I usually wouldn't wait until the last minute like this, but everything just-

[And she actually stops pacing, looking at her stilled hands that she was ringing together. Pato stops his tail wag.]

Everything just... happened so fast...

[She resumes walking.]

It doesn't matter. I'm not letting Rex suffer over that. At least not anymore than he already has. And now his brother is here and Knight's being civil for a change. He needs a real Christmas. With the stockings and the tree and that tinsel stuff that gets everywhere that someone always ends up complaining about anyway and swears not to use it the next year, but we still do anyway ( ... )

[Six watches her pace, head turning just enough to keep her in his line of sight. It's almost like she's having a "meltdown". Over a date on the calendar of all things. He raises an eyebrow.]

...Is it really that important?

[Stops walking to look at him as he he's grown a second head.]

YES.

We need a tree. At least.

[He stares back at her, eyebrow still raised in confusion.]

Why?

[BLINK.]

It's Christmas. It's not Christmas without a Christmas tree. And it's already the eleventh!

[Please, Six. HUMOR HER.]

...We could Bend one up...? [Trying to humor her but still not seeing the crisis.]

[ARRRGGGGHHHHHHH. But, yes, okay.]

We could. I'm not particularly fond of using a live one.

[ALRIGHT. THEY HAVE A GAME PLAN.]

Might as well see how big it'll have to be.

[And heading to the living room. You coming?]

[He follows after her, still massively confused.]

How big are Christmas trees usually?

Reply

doc_holi December 12 2011, 21:15:08 UTC
For them to look nice, they're usually a few feet short of the ceiling. Depends on how big the room is.

[And they have a nice size living room, too. Not huge, but a decent sized one. The tree would take some effort for one person, but it shouldn't be hard for two.]

[And stepping down into the living room... She eyes it like she might attack soon.]

Now... where to put it?

[In the back near the fireplace? In the front near the windows? Close to the stairs? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.]

[Six watches, thoroughly confused.]

Where do you usually put a tree?

Reply

orz, okay, better doc_holi December 12 2011, 21:52:03 UTC
[Rubbing her chin.]

Depends on where it would look best. Mom used to put ours by the front window...

[But this living room compared to her childhood home isn't exactly the same.]

Trying to figure out where-... [She's not going to Bend up three trees.]
