[Early morning, May 25th. The view is of Kitt's personal room/garage in the back of the Fibonacci Museum. The black TransAm is . . . rather gaudily decorated, actually. Ribbons and streamers, temporary spraypaint on the windows, even tin cans on strings tied to his rear bumper - he looks like he's been graffiti'd for a pair of newly-weds. Except the writing across his rear window boldly declares "1-Year Anniv" instead of "Just Married".]
[Kitt has been in rest mode for the past few hours, but only a moment or so after the video starts, his systems ramp back up to normal operation level.]
...what the-!?
[The camera fuzzes a bit as he remote-accesses it to try to get a view of himself.]
Oh, for goodness sake, Nautilus. Now what are you-! [a long pause, then a tone of wonder] It . . . has been, hasn't it? I've managed to survive here an entire year!
[The recording ends . . . but about an hour later, another camera picks the TransAm back up. Kitt is outside. The tin cans are secured to his bumper by their strings so they're not dragging. The car itself is an onyx streak along the streets of Nautilus. Over his speakers, a song is blaring on repeat. Once in a while, for no apparent reason whatsoever, there's an explosive noise and a cloud of smoke from under his chassis and with it, Kitt leaps high into the air, having at long last regained his Turbo Boost - the last of his original, lost functions - some weeks ago now. He's even singing with parts of the song. Or...well, he can't sing - he's not programmed to and he hasn't learned to - but he speaks the lyrics badly rhythmically.]
I finally know I'm alive
I wanna learn how to fly
I wanna show I've arrived
And set all circuits to "jive"
I wanna prove I'm alive
Do so much more than survive
I'm gonna reach for the sky
