[The feed cuts on to show one confused looking lady with a lab coat. Judging by the light fog around her ankles, since it's midday, and the other surroundings, one could guess she's in the Northern District.

But she doesn't know that. Nope, she's pretty lost.]

Where... am I...?

[She blinks again, looking around and taking in the new atmosphere. This ( Read more... )

[There's a teenage chef in your viewscreen, cradling a bowl of cake batter and retracting her hand from where she apparently pushed a button or did something in order to respond.]

You're in the city of Nautilus. And yep, it's recording, ha ha! The communicators just kind of do that sometimes around here.

Anyway, welcome! I'm Orihime Inoue, pleased to meet you!

[She inclines her head cheerfully.]

[And... now there's a happy girl with cake batter on the screen. She gives the girl a small smile, which is the best she can muster right now.]

Hi. I'm Doctor Holiday. Pleased to meet you as well.

Um...

[She takes another second to look around.]

Nautilus?

Yeah! It's kind of like...a hyper-reality city, where you wake up from your own reality. It's almost like existing in two places at once, but your consciousness pays attention here. ...It makes more sense after you get used to it, really.

[Orihime takes note of the labcoat, which would indicate some sort of medical or scientific profession. That could make a world of difference!]

--Hou, are you a scientist?!

[Have a blank stare, Orihime. Hyper-reality? Two places at once? Holiday just assumes that maybe this is... a very, very vivid dream and takes the girl's word for it. It'll make more sense later.

For now, she looks down at herself, then back to the screen with a genuine smile.]

Uh, yeah. Yes, I am.

[She was starting to like this girl's attitude.]

Wow, really?! That's great! You'll love it here, then, there's a lot to discover and study! Skyfire-san and I do lots of exploring, so you're free to join us next time if you like!

Are you doing okay? Do you need something to eat, or a place to rest for a while?

Exploring does sound... interesting. I can already tell that this place is rather, well, different.

[At the questions, she gives a smile and waves her hand. This girl was too generous.]

Oh, no, no, I wouldn't want to burden you or anything. I'm just... a little lost for the moment. All I know of where I am is what you've told me and this place is a little on the... creepy side.

[Not to mention, while the girl is nice, she doesn't know her. Plus, the Providence comm that she's supposed to have has vanished. She faintly wondered if they could find her.]

Creepy?

[Orihime turns her head, presumably looking out a window.]

Oh, the fog! You're right, it can be sometimes. It usually goes away by the afternoon, though. And the other districts have different environments if you decide you don't like this one. I woke up in the Southern District when I first got here, it's almost all forest! I was pretty shocked by the contrast, ha ha!

We're in the Northern District, by the way. The Eastern District has a beach and lots of fountains, and the Western District...well, some people say it's a little ominous, but I think it's pretty in its own way. There are two moons there! One is heart-shaped, it's cute.

[She beams.]

But I probably wouldn't visit there yet until you learn how to Bend, since it can get a little dangerous over there.

[And we're back to blank stares.]

How can one district have... two moons? And how could it possibly be shaped like a heart?

[Oh, gosh, this was strange. BUT she knew where she was now. In the Northern District and from the 'we' she was probably near Orihime. Good things, good things.]

Bend? [Some sort of martial arts or something? Holiday was plenty accustomed to danger, but she didn't know anything about what was going on here. Sure, Orihime could be pulling her leg and Providence was really just around the next hill or something, but she didn't seem the type at all. For some reason, the girl seemed very trusting. Perhaps, her happy spirit was to blame.]

I'm not sure, but that's how the city is. Anything is possible!

[She recognizes the startlement. Best to keep things upbeat and cheerful, she doesn't want to freak the doc out.]

Not everyone who lives here is human, either, but most of them are really nice people. So don't be afraid if a giant robot starts talking to you, okay? They're usually super nice, and really gentle with humans, none of them would hurt you.

[Orihime nods. Yes, Bending!]

Bending! Anou...I hope I'm not dumping too much information too fast, but I'd be happy to explain if you think you're doing okay so far!

[.... Giant robots.... Nice giant robots... WELL, she isn't a stranger to 'monsters', so we know that when we see a giant... robot... She'll try to be as polite as possible...

Still, she manages another smile. She can tell Orihime is really trying to help and that's something she could use right now.]

No, no. I'm keeping up, it's just... This is all rather hard to believe. It's okay, though. I'll somehow manage to sort it out later... I guess. So, what's this bending thing?

[Can't be more strange than a giant robot and a heart shaped moon... or that's what she hopes.]

[Orihime looks relieved.]

Oh good! It's hard to tell sometimes if I'm being too overwhelming. You're doing great, Holiday-sensei! A lot of people really freak out when they first show up here, but you're taking it super calmly. And you're right, it'll sort out later. It's okay to think it's weird for now, we've all been through that.

[She seems proud of you!]

Bending is the best! It's when you learn how to shape reality with your willpower. Think of what you want, focus really hard on it, and then it appears! It takes a lot of practice, though, and it can be exhausting, especially when you're first starting out. But newcomers can usually make food appear during their first few days here. I bet you'd get the hang of that really fast.

Well, I am trying to stay calm. Glad to know it's working.

[The more and more she hears about this place, though, the more crazy she feels... But the girl had just called her sensei! That managed to break a small smile out... and then... umm...]

Shape reality with... willpower? How-... How on Earth could that even begin to be possible?

[Nothing was adding up! The math looked awful right now!]

I'm not really sure! But that's usually why we're here, to learn how to protect and guard other worlds. If one gets damaged, we'll be able to use our Bending to fix it.

My first attempt wasn't very good though, ha ha! I tried to make a potato, and it was as hard as a rock!

[Video] doc_holi May 25 2011, 16:36:53 UTC
So, that's why I'm here? To help fix... other worlds. Wait, what other worlds?

[At the potato comment, she gives a slight grimace.]

I have a feeling that's how most... probably all of my food will turn out...

[Video] leekspin May 25 2011, 16:42:27 UTC
There are all kinds. Even you and I probably came from different worlds, since there are all kinds of differences.

[As for the food, Orihime laughs.]

Well, maybe at first, and that's not unusual! But you'll get the hang of it. I mean, I didn't know how to make a coffee maker, but I made sure I wanted it badly enough for it to show up, and then it did!

[Video] doc_holi May 25 2011, 16:52:29 UTC
So... I don't have to know how something is built... I just have to know what it is and want it bad enough?

[... Malicious smile goes here. Oh, the possibilites. She could easily learn how to love this place.]
