guess where i am?! Brighton. mental. but i basically cant go out or see anyone all weekend because i have to write an essay for monday which i havnt even started.

Had a really nice day on thursday as my mum came up to london and i met her in the national portrait gallery. Went to see an exhibition on self portraits which was pretty good but not exactly breathtaking. highlight was probably seeing a Jenny Saville painting on a wall and not just in a book. Ive written so many essays and stuff over the last 3 years about her work but that was the first time seeing her work properly. Quite a few of the paintings I'd seen before from the tate but one thing that was quite nice was that about 50% of the paintings were by female artists which is pretty rare. After that we went see the schweppes portrait photography award thing which was amazng. Probably one of the best exhibitions ive been to this year.

Before i went to meet my mum i wandered from embankment to covent garden and round that area back round to trafalger square. stopped off in Magma and saw about 10 books i really want but really cant afford. i did buy a well good lesbian magazine though which has Peaches dressed as Gia Carangi(dunno how u spell that) on the cover and inside has a really good interview with Leisha Hailey and some stuff about Joan jett and the slits and some other oldish female bands that i havnt really heard of.

yehhhh. walked through soho to get to a restaurant with my mum , didnt actually realise how many sex shops there are in soho til ur with someone you really dont want to see them with.
