Steady, As She Goes
TGIF doesn't really quite apply today. Nope, not really.
Snow, snow, and more snow. Really I don't mind it- to me it's the only real justification that nature can have for making it so ass-numbingly cold out all the time (especially with my bedroom being so poorly insulated and strategically placed over the garage). But what I do mind is schools who can't make up their damn minds and do stupid things like 2-hour delays when the roads only get worse as the day progresses. And then rearrange schedules so that study halls are gone, not bothering to let you know until you've already banked on having that time to do work and leaving you with no time and pretty much screwed. If that's a product of snow, I'm not a fan.
On the lighter side, I am a fan of backyard football in six inches of snow. Yes, I'm a girl, but padded up in snow gear and with everyone else being in gloves with an oversized football, I can hold a pretty good defense. :)
Snow days, too, are good things. Got to play drums for the first time in what seems like FOREVER, and it was just as fun as when I first started- except now I can actually play along and add some fills in, which has always been a goal of mine. I'm steadily learning "State of Love and Trust" by Pearl Jam (look that shit UP!) and hopefully my guitar-playing guy friend and I will be playing that at a school arts expo thing soon. My school has yet to see a girl drummer (the guy drummers tend to do a 30-second frilly solo and call themselves hot shit) so I think it's my turn.
Ran a solid 5 miles today, watching that Brad Pitt movie "Babel" (fantastic so far...gotta go finish that!) at a 10-minute pace, which is picking it up for me. At least I think it was a 10-minute pace...my new swanky Nike + hookup was actually charting me as going faster (wtf?! ) which I kind of hope is true but which would also screw up my training schedule royally (no wonder I'm so sore...owwww).
Mock trial in the morning....kind of hope it's snowed out, but on the other hand it may be the most social thing I do all weekend. Sigh.
