I fell asleep with the light on while reading a back issue of The Economist. Patrick Foley called to notify me that I should be expecting a call from Pat O'Conner. Apparently he and a friend were at a waffle house in Phoenix after successfully completing a hitching vacation to Idaho to see the International Moustache and Beard competition. So I rolled out of bed and agreed to drop them off at a truck depot so they could catch a ride back to Tucson. Though it wouldn't have altered my decision, I should have considered where exactly the nearest truck depot was in relation to Arizona Mills. I drove 25 miles to pick them up at the waffle house then drove half way to Tucson to find the nearest trucker hangout. It's really the least I could do for a beared moustache enthusiast. The pictures and recounting of the week long adventure sounded brilliant. In July, after returning from Europe, I'd like to give hitch-hiking to the Pacific Northwest a shot with Patrick and Laura Lei.
