When 8 AM rolled around Spock slipped from between the sheets where he and Christine slept and made the call that Christine would not be into work today. He had made his own call the night before while grading his class’s papers. The Vulcan turned and watched Christine for a moment before going to cook breakfast for them. Once he was finished ( Read more... )

As a child, Christine had always been a morning person. To struggle to wake the way she was now was unusual, especially after a full eight hours of uninterupted sleep. And yet she felt horribly groggy as Spock tried to wake her, lifting her arm to touch her hand to his and stretching her legs out, but not doing much else.

Spock found amusement in this moment and knew he shouldn't but she looked like a kitten attempting to wake. "Christine breakfast is ready," he tried to put a cap on his amusement because he didn't want to upset her. "We must be ready to leave the flat in an hour as well."

"But I just laid down," she mumbled tiredly, holding on to his arm now.

He placed a hand over her's. "You have slept for nine hours and 12 minutes."

She rolled onto her side, curling up again, around his hand. "Wasn't long enough."

That worried Spock greatly. She was normally as much a morning person as he was...well Spock was an anytime person but the point, and worry, still stood. "Christine I need you to get out of bed and change into uniform."

"Fine." Letting go of him, she got out the far side of the bed, rolling her shoulders to work out kinks. That in itself was odd. As limber and lithe as her body was, she didn't often suffer from things like that. Wordlessly, she collected her standard white nurses uniform and disappeared into the bathroom.

Spock pressed his face to his hands for a moment before he got up and went back to the kitchen to set the table.

She was out of the bathroom in a few minutes, looking perfectly presentable, completely like herself. But missing a smile. She curled her lips upward at Spock in thanks for breakfast, but it wasn't really a smile. "Looks good."

He only nods. Spock does not like this empty, sad, depressed, version of his girl. It makes him sad as well and not just because they shared a bond. Eating doesn't take him long and he does not speak. He' afraid of what will happen if he speaks be it the right thing or wrong thing. Once he's done he washes his plate and gets a cup of coffee while he waits for her to get done.

It was an effort to process the fact that food tastes good, too. If she had felt a bit better, she'd have been concerned for herself. As it stood, she was just upset that she's was upsetting her love.

When her meal was finished, she pushed back a bit from the table, drawing her legs up to her chest, letting her shins dig into the table, as she spoke quietly. "That was delicious, thank you."

He came back over and took her plate. "Thank you Christine," he nodded as he washed off her plate. They had never once had a morning like this and that fact made Spock even sadder.

After a moment, she stood and moved to stand behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek to his back. "I wish I wasn't worrying you so much."

He turned in her arms to pull her into a hug. "I wish the same," he presses a kiss to her cheek.

She held tight to him. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "We'll fix this, right? Make sure I stop worrying you?"

He nodded. "We will," he looked at her knowing she could see how much it hurt to see her like this.
