This is
a very important post that everyone should read. I don't know the context in which it came up, but the entire post is worth reading, as are all the links.
The context in which it came up, however oblique, is something that also occurs rather often, and should be considered: Sometimes it's abuse. Sometimes it isn't. If you are going to call something abuse, get the facts. Facts include quotations, specific deeds, etc. And, realize that either the suspect or the victim may indeed be lying, as either could have a motive to do so (I know both suspects and victims who have lied to avoid repercussions or to get at a significant other).
