I can't sleep tonight.

It's sort of a long story, I suppose, why I'm on livejournal, and posting something, which hasn't happened in a long time, but suffice it to say, it seemed like a good idea at the time. It gives me an interesting opportunity for introspection. I scanned through all of my old entries, seeing that most of them were from Japan, and smiled. I was a weird kid back then, and I love that I've forgotten that all the cryptic entries mean, but they persist in the unfaltering consciousness of the internet. I checked, and there's only one friends-locked entry, but it is a good one. Worth looking for, if you have nothing better to do with life than sift through livejournal entries and be curious about the inner workings of Case.

Anyhow, I guess I just wanted to say "hi" to everyone, most specifically the ones who (take classes at MSU / drew Lobster Man / ran into me at folk life / knew the terrors of Yamashita sensei). 4 friends from 4 states, 3/4 with something peculiar in common. A special prize for the a) first name of each of the 4, b) the thing the 3 have in common, or c) the author of the following poem.

the sea of pain
is sailed by ships of bone
and it's lonely mariners
are the black shrouds of depression
storm clouds boil
showering the waves
with tears of rejection

today i found a bird
dying on the ground before me

sometimes life
just seems so futile
