For those of you who think racism is dead because of Obama
My choice for the monthly "Fuckwittery Award" goes to The Valley Club, for teaching young children that they are "too dark" to swim in a pool!

If the reaction of the little girl who didn't want to return doesn't break your heart, well, you don't have one. These kids have already learned that the color of their skin still matters and that they still looked upon as second-class citizens. I hope they receive some seriously powerful and positive reinforcement to counter this ignorance.
I can already hear the supporters of The Valley Club:
- "They're a private club and they're allowed to pick and chose who can/cannot enter" because that's a lame excuse and one that was old back in the 60's. Obviously the only color they saw at first was GREEN until a FEW racist parents who obviously watch way too much BET went into a holy panic. "OMG, our little white girls are swimming next to little black and brown boys...they'll get married next!"
- "Studies show that minority kids tend to have more disciplinary problems"--which explains why most school shootings tend to occur in predominantly WHITE schools, but hey don't let the FACTS get in the way...
You know, this is the kind of idiocy that had it occurred in the South (yes I know, stop picking on the South) wouldn't have surprised me. But this is Pennsylvania, home to the Quakers, the cradle of liberty and all that jazz. What cracks me up is this line right here:
"Club president John Duesler told Philadelphia television station WTXF that several club members complained because the children "fundamentally changed the atmosphere" at the pool but that the complaints didn't involve race."
Fundamentally Changed the Atmosphere??? Bigot-speak for "damn, there are too many darkies in this here pool!"
