Thanks! Great tutorials.

When you say you used your tablet...are you saying like an actual tablet, like the iPad? probably a stupid question.

No, I mean a pen tablet that I plug into my computer and draw on, haha probably could've clarified that xD

No problem! Ahahha yeah I guess I kind of do it automatically, I don't think that I'm painting as much as I am.

LOL
can I make you a question? you said you used a 1px hard brush... there's some particular setting you use?

I turn on the pen pressure button in the top bar, switch size jitter to pen pressure in the brush panel, and turn on smoothing. I think that's it!

These are really helpful! Thanks for posting them - I'd always be interested in seeing more. I do have a question about step 3 on the Illyria one (and basically every time you paint). I know I want the negative space around her to be dark so that she's the obvious
focus, so I use CS6's default watercolor build up brush in a light blue color and
paint this roughly around her, setting the brush layer to multiply 100%.

In the screenshot you are painting on a black background. Is this a regular layer mask?

I'm such a newbie at this stuff, sorry if it is a stupid question!

Ahh, probably should've stated in this like I did in the previous batch of tutorials: any brushes on black backgrounds are just to show what the brushes themselves look like. When they're actually used on the icon they're on a transparent layer and set to whatever the tutorial says :)

Thanks so much for your reply! V. helpful. And I'm so glad you mentioned other tutorials - I thought this was the only one b/c tag !tutorials - but looked at your tag list and found 8 more under !tutorial (I'm so excited and will hopefully read them all and not ask anymore needless questions. :)

Also: the things you make are so pretty! Just sayin.
