To cap off a busy week, the season closer of the Oregon Symphony was tonight. They'd played a very good show, but I'd especially enjoyed the new piece by Robert Kyr - Symphony 12, "Armed Man Variations". Kyr is a northwest composer, and I haven't heard a lot of his work, but I like what I have... It seems timeless and natural in a way that makes me think my body is a mass of organic matter that will return the the forests out here - and that's okay. Music for relating to the universe.
I was joined for the symphony and for dinner by Mike & Laura (whom I'm still sad will be leaving Portland), and Beth, who is generally awesome -but in particular has fine conversation skills.
Dinner was at Authentica, a NE establishment run by a man from Guerrero Mexico, which is where I'd vacationed with my folks. -Excellent seafood, and my cactus leaf stuffed with cheese (and other stuff I forget) was delicious.
And I get my car back on Wednesday. I'm excited.
