HOT BLOODED WOMAN (1965) ½ *

A mentally unstable housewife (Beverly Oliver) goes to see her shrink and tells him all about her unhappy marriage. He tries to put her in the nuthouse, but she escapes and steals a shotgun from a guy in a junkyard. Her lout of a husband arrives on the scene and tries to talk some sense into her. The cops show up and she winds up dying during a shootout with the police.

Hot Blooded Woman is the Bataan Death March of ‘60s skin flicks. It’s only 68 minutes long, but it feels like it’s three times longer than that. If you’re like me, you’ll probably find yourself nodding off here and there throughout the picture. Who knew boobies could be so boring?

There are plenty of nude scenes to go around, but they are stagnant, unending, and not very sexy. If you want to see depressed looking women drearily drinking, dancing, smoking, having sex, and bathing in the nude for a little over an hour, you might enjoy it. However, the droning music on the soundtrack (which often is repeated) and the sparse dialogue (that seldom matches the actor’s lip movements) is probably enough to put anybody to asleep. I did like the title tune though.

Probably the most interesting thing about the film is that Betty Oliver used to be friends with a dancer at one of Jack Ruby’s clubs and later became an advisor on Oliver Stone’s JFK.
