Crash Boom Bang Theatre Presents: Moonlite Gallery

Dec 02, 2009 19:01

This past Friday and Saturday night Crash Boom Bang opened "The Moonlite Gallery" and we had quite the crowd on BOTH nights! Saturday night's crowd was clapping after almost every scene and we all had to hold for laugh lines throughout the night.

Honestly, I was pretty worried about the show. Crash Boom Bang doesn't usually get our shit together until last minute, but holy cow it was literally LAST MINUTE with this show. There were a couple of rehearsals that had me worried but everything came together with only a few dropped lines the first night.

Everyone created their own character and gave them to Beth and Joey, who wrote everyone into the play. It was pretty hectic and confusing at first. Each character became a painting that eventually came to life in the show...chaos ensued...and the show ended with a HUGE food fight. We never rehearsed the food fight, so it was so hard not to just completely crack up during that part. There was cupcake frosting everywhere by the end of it.

My character was Petunia Nettlewood, of Nettlewood Mountain Bed and Breakfast. She came to me in a dream. The entire character! It was kinda crazy. It was the night before our characters were due and I had nothing. That night, I had the strangest dream about staying in a B&B run by a cooky gal named Petunia Nettlewood...and thus, she was born! Once the script was written, I got to play around with the character, and she became a psychopath that killed her parents. She talked with a lisp and made really crazy faces. It was certainly a fun character to play. I'd like to try to work on small sketches based on her cause I feel we could do a lot with that. Sara and I were coming up with some pretty funny scenarios...granted, it probably isn't that funny unless you saw how crazy Petunia was in the show. One of my favorite ideas Sara came up with is 'Petunia Goes Clubbing' cause I could only imagine what funny shit we could come up with.

Anyway, onward to the photos! I'm putting most of them behind a cut since theatre photos aren't up everyone's alley and don't really make sense haha.

Matt created Muffin's tank from cardboard and a walker...who needs a budget?! And the second image is a work in progress.

Matt helping Max get into his 'cubist' costume. Matt also constructed those awesome wings for Yuri, but I had to wear them for him to make finishing touches.

Matt drew the Dalis and I painted them. And Robert Parker painted the 'Del Peruga' entitled 'Lost Supper'.

Me as Petunia Nettlewood and Sasha as Coffee Girl arguing about how we got out of the painting

Zip Moondiver (the spaceman in the 'painting') had to stay there for almost 45 minutes before his character came to life.

Max in full cubist costume (not pictured: his tiny, pixel dick lol), Tank in full costume, and Petunia (me) and Coffee Girl (Sasha) in the painting.

Petunia and Coffee Girl arguing.

Faux Sterling, Gallery Owner, meets with Knect Reisling to talk about purchasing the newest Del Perugas.

Faux, Carl Jung (Robert Parker), and Goat Girl (Sara...omg she was SO cute! She was a fainting goat!!!)

Tank and Zip Moondiver

Faux Sterling receiving a huge package from the Delivery Boy.

Petunia and Hernando Cortez

Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, and a Banana

The whole gang, right before the food fight!

The death of Madame Butterfly (Yuri)...I wish we had a better shot of this. Poor Andy was trying to cue all of the sound cues AND take photos.

Matt still in his ridiculous delivery boy wig and me still in pigtails.

I'm putting these aftermath pictures of the food fight outside of the cut cause I love them so much!
