“Okay. Sure I will. And what are-? I'm not keeping the track here, Will. Wanna perhaps enlighten me? But not literally, cause... Right, I'll... Be there soon. Gotcha.”

He stared at the phone for a few moments. Seeing Willow, just Willow, Willow minus Oz and Cordelia, was good, right? Great, even. No argue about that. Because that wasn't the point.

The point was... Never mind. He had to get going.

Xander hit the road, with twenty dollars in his pocket. For the bowling.

So yeah, he was a jerk, he did screw up. In a really ironic way. If someone had told him two years ago that he would be dating the most popular- No, scratch that. Told him that he would be not-wanting-to-run-away-just-to-be-anywhere-else-but-in-the-same-room-with-Cordelia-Chase, he would have thought that someone was nuts. And now he was, in fact, not-wanting-something-something-with-Cordelia and, which was worse, wanting something else with Willow. His best friend Willow. It was like if Buffy decided to make out with him while having this bizarre vampire romance with Angel. Sort of. And he so didn't want to get into that.

I fall in pieces, he thought, and, when exactly did my life change into a country song?

Buffy went to see Angel again. She think no-one knows, but I do. She never tells me anything, but I have my own (secret!) sources. I don't use them very often, though, cause I know Buffy would be mad. I would be mad if someone read this. And I would know - I invented a system to find out. But I won't explain it here, cause duh! Anyways, Buffy got her SAT scores and was talking with Mom about COLLEGE. According to Mom, she could leave Sunnydale. I think she should (but she never listens to me, so...) and it's NOT just to get her room, which, I admit, would be awesome. But COLLEGE is even awesomer! more awesome! Gah, Buffy doesn't take school seriously at all. Faith could handle the vampires. She's never around lately, not by day anyway. Xander and Willow come here quite often. Faith's and Buffy's Watcher luckily not. He used to be here all the time when Buffy

Oh my god, Angel secret is out! Thanks to the blond vampire singer who was here the day Mom found out Buffy's a Slayer. I'll go check back for updates!

He was Giles.

Except that one time when they found out you used to bow to darkness.

He was their stuffy, British Watcher/librarian with a great amount of demon knowledge.

Except that one time when you turned into a pot-smoking, car-stealing fellow. Again.

No, in their minds he wasn't capable of such trickery.

Except you are and you're making it clear by every moment you keep driving.

He was still sane enough to move his business as far from Sunnydale as possible. To actually make sure the kids knew where he was going, in case something bad happened on the Hellmouth (and it always did).

How honourable.

Forty-five minutes passed more quickly than he anticipated.

More quickly than you're ready for.

And here he was, at the point of no return. Just to shut his mind, he carelessly parked his car and stepped into the night Californian air.

The plan was clear: he was going to spend hours wrapped up in self-hatred, mindlessly shagging his past and regretting every second of it, then get back to his mission and saving the world. Good plan, indeed.

So let's get it over with.
