Green Day was AMAZING. Jesus Christ, they know how to put on a show. They sounded great, it was really high energy, and I love how they make a real effort to include every single person in the stadium. They're just phenomenal performers.
Meghan and I got to Key Arena at 10pm the night before. There was one girl there ahead of us so we hung out with her all night while we were constantly kicked out by security guards. We basically played hide and seek all night. Heh. But it was fun, and then at 5am the next group of fans showed up. By 10am the line had gotten pretty long, so we were glad we'd decided to camp out. It got soooo fucking hot and we were in the sun all day. It got pretty hard to bear near the end, but we knew it would be worth it. Later that day, my roomie Brittany joined us, and the four of us all made it to the barrier together, right in front of Mike. :)

I kind of wish they'd done what they were doing for the small preview shows, where they played all of 21CB in order and then played their older hits. But nonetheless it was an AMAZING show. So good. All the guys seemed really psyched to be back. At one point Billie was like "It's been a while. Didja miss me? Cause I fuckin missed you!" There was a lot of pyro and theatrics and it was really cool.
During Longview Billie pulled a girl up on stage who forgot the first verse and then kind of mumbled through the chorus. Heh. Then he made her leave and he brought up a guy. The guy was on stage for about half a second before grabbing Billie and making out with him for like 10 seconds, it was hilarious. Then the guy sang the next verse and the chorus, then walked over to where Billie was and was like "Goddamn you're hot" and "Who wants to fuck him?" When Billie walked by him the guy slapped his ass, lol. Then the song was over and he was going to leave the stage but Billie was like "Get back here, you smartass. You're gonna do a stagedive!"
At one point a kid in the audience got Billie's attention and Billie was like "Oh, you wanna come on stage? You wanna play guitar? Can you play guitar? Are you sure? How many years? Do you promise? You better not be lying. Okay. Do you know a song called Jesus of Suburbia? Do you swear to God? You swear? Okay. Get up here!!" So I'm thinking, shit, this kid is gonna totally fuck up the song. He was amazing!! He was probably like 16 but he nailed every single chord and he had the timing down perfectly. The band was seriously impressed, you could see them making eye contact with each other and grinning like mad. At the end Billie was like "That was fucking amazing! Someone should do something nice for this kid. Tre, suck his dick!" Haha. I thought it was really cool because it was spontaneous and it was the first show of the tour. It's not like Knowledge where everyone practices it ahead of time, this kid just happened to already know it, so that was kickass.
The show was just so so good. I was happy with the setlist because I think my three favorite songs are probably Basketcase, Minority, and Jesus of Suburbia, so I'm glad we got to hear those three. And the 21CB songs sounded great live. I had high expectations, but they just blew us away.
