Anthony was usually up this late regardless of curfew or the undeniable fact that he would be required to wake up for classes in a few hours. Truth was, he had been watching the window thoughtfully for a while now, the sleeping troll not having gone overlooked by his obnoxious attention for detail. He knew it was there. The problem was whether or not he wanted to do anything about it. His phone sat silent and untouched in his pocket, though there were a few moments when his fingers twitched for him to fish it out and text someone. It was easier to pretend he knew nothing, and let someone else discover the giant sleeping mass blocking the road. Ivors could call a bulldozer, among other useful equipment, by then -- much more useful than anything Anthony could conjure.
He shrugged to himself as he directed his attention back to Poe's glowing monitor, the only light source keeping him company besides the moon's dim gleam. Anthony couldn't focus though, and his eyes were constantly darting back outside. It got to such a point where he finally just set aside the laptop, placing her gingerly on the sofa before he cantered over towards the window and opened it. It was so uneventful out there. Nothing to occupy the air except for the troll's dull snore.
It was weird how he and his team members seemed to just sense trouble on campus, because it was hardly a minute later when he began to notice some shuffling around on the floor below, coupled with what sounded like a shushed argument. Anthony didn't waste any time pushing himself from the windowsill and venturing out of his dorm room (making sure that the door clicked shut softly behind so not to wake his sleeping roommate). He took the stairs quickly, a surprise from a guy normally sporting the speed of a turtle. Of course, by the time he reached the main floor, no one was in sight -- however, that didn't keep the teen from meandering to the door and taking a glance outside.
"Ah." There they were. Anthony's lip twitched upwards into a grin, though slight, as he slipped past the door and let it clamber shut behind him. He didn't make much sound as he came up from behind, and he could have been feeling just a tiny bit mischievous when the leaned in next to Lynne to say, "Heeeello~?"
Lynne jolted with a short cry. She instinctively rushed a few steps away; she had been so focused on the demon she hadn't heard anyone else let alone been aware he'd creept up so close. However, when her mind kicked in, she stopped herself, face flushing in the dark from embarassment.
Ezra couldn't help it - he jumped too. But just as quickly, after his eyes landed on possibly the last person he wanted to see come running to help, they rolled upwards to the heavens as if to ask, 'god, why?'. Ignoring the fact that a feeling of relief had been his second reaction... but that said far too much about Lawrence's company. "Hello, Anthony," he managed to grunt out sullenly. "You know, normally, people don't startle each other when they're so close to a giant demon." Ezra's tone and expression were of exaggerated patience as he waved at the demon behind them... who was now stirring. Once more, Ezra was all-business. His slumped shoulders stiffened at the sound of its half-asleep snorts, and he stepped forward slightly in hopes of catching its attention while the others composed themselves.
"Oh, right," he muttered as he was reminded of the last time he and Anthony had dealt with demons together. As much as he wanted to pin the slightly-more-welcome blond with a serious look, he didn't dare to look away from the giant just yet. "The plan this time is to talk to it. Got it?" He wasn't going to mention the chair-throwing incident in front of Lynne, but Ezra was praying that Anthony would take this seriously for once and make a good impression. And a better one, with him.
Troll's ears twitched and smacked its mouth. In his dreamscape, pixies danced and sang to "I Feel Pretty". A particularly cute one flew up to him ("excuse me?") and asked him to join them. Troll politely declined (an incoherent mumble in the woken world), he was more an observer than a dancer, but she insisted. They would do a tango, she said. All the other pixies cheered and encouraged him, so he had no choice but to boldly accept. With that a pair of dancing shoes, a tutu, and top hat suddenly appeared on him. He followed her (rolled over with a half-snore half-mumble) and reached forward (groped blindly) to pull his dancing partner into a tight embrace.
Lawrence ignored the fact that Anthony had just floundered in out of nowhere and caused a ruckus between Lynne and Ezra. They were distracted, and this was his chance! The so-called "demon" had to have been somewhere right in front of him, so he slowly crept towards it while the other three were distracted. As he did, he felt something tighten around his body.
"W-what!?" he yelled as something constricted around him. He looked all around and couldn't tell what it was. He slowly observed himself being lifted into the air. "U-unbelievable! What is this!? Hey! You three! Help!!"
"Told him to stay back," Lynne muttered, throat dry.
Surprisingly, she was only half-surprised that he hadn't listened but this-the mental image of Lawrence getting bear hugged was funny in her head, right up until her imagination fed her an image of the Troll hugging to hard and breaking him or even rolling over and crushing him.
"Hang on, we'll get you down," Lynne called, belatedly adding with a nervous look at Ezra and Anthony. "Somehow."
Meanwhile, as if to reinforce how hard it'd be, the Troll let out a particularly loud yawn and nuzzled Lawrence more closely.
Lawrence's horror could only be conveyed by the look on his face, a grimacing, shocked, horrified expression. The Troll nuzzled him, like a young child would to a teddy bear, as Lawrence screamed at the three people watching in awe.
"SOMEHOW!? DON'T GIVE ME 'SOMEHOW'! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT SO GET. ME. DOWN! YOU... YOU CHARLATANS! YOU LAWBREAKING FIENDS!"
When the troll reached forward, Anthony had automatically taken a large step back to avoid his sweeping arm. It didn't seem that everyone here had gotten the memo that groping demons should be avoided, and when he heard that sharp yelp, Anthony was very aware that one of them had been grabbed. He glanced over quickly enough to see Lawrence trapped in the strong arms of the troll, a stunned silence falling over the students before -- ah, there came the screaming and shouting, and Anthony would have rubbed his ears had he not been laughing as hard as he was at the ridiculous sight. That being, a rather giant troll affectionately nuzzling a feisty little human boy.
He held his stomach as he laughed, slightly keeled over while tears prickled at the corner of his eyes.
"Oh man," he started in between fits of giggles -- trying to catch his breath. "You should... You should, fff- see yourself!"
Lynne tried to supress the way her lips twitched, trying to keep her earlier mental image of Lawrence being crushed in a hug or rolled over and squashed in mind, but the combination of Lawrence's reaction (a part of her still felt stab of ire. How was this situation their faults!?), the troll nuzzling him, and the fact Anthony wouldn't stop laughing - highlighting what absurdity was in the situation - wasn't helping.
It took her a few moments to be sure she wasn't going to follow Anthony's example, but she managed to say with an (almost) straight face, "Well...looks like even screaming in its ear isn’t working..." Despite Lawrence's outburst and the proximity, the Troll remained blissfully asleep and snoring. "Anyone have any ideas?"
At the sight of Lawrence scooped up in the troll's arms, Ezra had very nearly had a heart attack. Hadn't they told him to stay behind them and let them handle it and oh god, the insufferable asshole was going to die, wasn't he. But after a few moments of watching anxiously with a clenched hand held to his chest, the creature started to nuzzle onto Lawrence like he was some kind of pillow and Ezra deflated, unable to laugh along with the others but breathing was just as welcome.
Seeing that the blond was in no danger for now, Ezra let him squirm for a bit, casting around for something he could use to wake up the troll. He didn't want to resort to using persona just yet, and it wasn't like he could just whip out a Pekoflute, not that any sort of noise, even yelling, had caused it to stir very much. They probably could have held their earlier argument outside with no problems... Wait. That always worked in cartoons, didn't it? Ezra felt in his pockets and closed his fingers around a few quarters.
"Be right back," he muttered with a perfectly straight face, before turning around and heading back into the dorms. He was gone for just a minute before he emerged once more, a water bottle in hand procured from one of the vending machines. After a leisurely stroll back, making sure to keep his eyes on Lawrence to make sure he was still all right and partly to taunt him, he opened the cap and shook the bottle out, spritzing the troll and Lawrence both lightly with ice cold water. His expression was entirely unapologetic.

Let's see... The troll had stopped nuzzling him. Anthony was laughing his ass off, offering absolutely no aid to the situation whatsoever. Lynne was clueless. Ezra was, frustratingly enough, the only person that actually did something.
Water dripped down Lawrence's face. He was not amused. Not because of the water that had sprayed him in the face and potentially ruined his cravat, but because of the fact that it was Ezra who had actually done something useful. To think that he would need HIM of all people to save him...
He noticed the troll begin to stir. Not good... it would surely be angry now that it had been spritzed in the face with water, awakening it from whatever phantasmagorical dream it had been having beforehand. He could hardly contain his terror, and as such... started flailing and thrashing around, trying desperately to break free.
In the dream world, one moment, the skies were a beautiful landscape of colour and neverending sunlight and singing and dancing and laughter (so much laughter from a certain blond), in the next, the skies turned black.
The rainbow bridge Troll and his beautiful partner had been dancing on suddenly became a thundercloud. Water kept flowing from everywhere: clouds, ground, flowers, and rocks. In the place of the fairies were dark shades and Lilims and instead of laughter there was cackling and insead dancing they were harrying Troll (Lawrence struggled in his arms) and his partner. The pixie looked up at him, pleading, begging him to do something to save them. Troll bowed his top hat and promised he would because he loved her (a loving murmur). With tears in her eyes, she made the same declaration.
Troll knew they only had one chance and that was to jump across the fading cloud bridge and to the patch of sunlight beyond the edge. Troll and pixie repeated their declarations and he started running (rolled back and forth), him and pixie held on in a crushing embrace (started putting more and more pressure on the person in his arms with increasing hurt) and leapt with a scream (a roaring snore)-
Lawrence felt his breathing slow more and more. The troll was now crushing his body, and nobody seemed to know anything to do to stop it. Lawrence was alone again. Just like he was at the adoption agency, before Heinrich came. Just like he was after he found out his parents were never coming back for him. And now, he would die in the arms of a troll--what's worse, he would die in front of Ezra, of all people.
...That's right. This was all his fault! Ezra was the one that woke the troll up! He was going to die because of Ezra's foolishness! Because of Ezra, he'd never see Heinrich again.
Something rose inside of him... a torrent of feelings he didn't understand, and couldn't stop. An intense amount of despair set in. And then, something... snapped.
He no longer had any control over his body. In his mind's eye, he could see something fluttering. Something... blue. A butterfly...? Something called out to him.
"Call me... Unleash my flames..."
What was that? He suddenly felt like his head was splitting. And then, it came again...
"Call me... Unleash my flames..."
Everything seemed to stop. And the words that came next were completely mechanical.
"Persona..."
A sharp pain went through his head as he could feel something spill out of him. He screamed loudly, and the butterfly was gone, replaced with a huge bird with flaming wings.
A very hot feeling came next. The troll yelled as something scorched his arm and as he let go, Lawrence hit the ground.
Ezra throwing a bucket of water at the troll was like icing on the cake, and as soon as Anthony's laughter had died down, he was cackling once again. It was just so amusing to see someone so serious get their feathers ruffled for once -- granted, it was easy to annoy the guy and receive an instant write-up on Lawrence's shit list, but it was still just as satisfying. It wasn't until the troll stirred when things got a fraction more serious, though Anthony wasn't one to worry until he legitimately felt in danger. As it was, the thing was only rolling around and snoring loudly, crushing Lawrence in his arms.
Anthony took a step forward... And then back again when the bird materialized around the captive student, the light from it's flaming wings contrasting the darkness enough to hurt his eyes and make him turn his head away. It looked like another Persona, and Anthony wouldn't have been any more surprised if it was. The thing also could have been another demon, for all he knew. When Lawrence hit the ground with a thud, Anthony was summoning his own persona aiming a healing spell at the other boy, just to be on the safe side. He didn't want to waste energy on the troll, even though it was looking much more angry from the new burn that graced his arm. That demon would be waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
He jogged up to Lawrence and hunched over him, tugging lightly on his arm "Hey, c'mon, you might want to move!"
Lawrence was pretty confused. He didn't understand any of what happened. He felt something warm caress him lightly, though he didn't know what it was. Every part of his body was aching, but after that feeling came... relief. He couldn't explain it, just like he couldn't explain any of what just happened.
He heard Anthony calling him and looked up fuzzily. He didn't really recognize him until he shook his head and got his bearings. Slowly, he stood up and glared daggers at him, but he moved like Anthony recommended, now in line with the rest of the group.
The troll, still in a daze more than he was fully awake, was just as confused. He gripped his arm and whined in pain on the ground for awhile longer. He was wet and in pain, and he genuinely couldn't imagine why until he stopped his whining and focused on the group in front of him. A group of human kids? Did they do that to him? Would they really be so simply barbaric?
He shrugged to himself as he directed his attention back to Poe's glowing monitor, the only light source keeping him company besides the moon's dim gleam. Anthony couldn't focus though, and his eyes were constantly darting back outside.
