Two very, very slow days at work. My entire team is in San Fransisco on a business meeting, the guy in the cubicle next to me is out because he broke his hand playing soccer (not even sure how, since you don't use your hands in soccer), and evidently my IntelliJ (program we use to write Java) license ran out over spring break. So I've actually spent the last two days at work restocking the fridge, keeping coffee made, and playing on the computer. Not bad to be getting paid to do that. A lady I work with said she requested a new license from the vendor, so maybe tomorrow I'll be doing real work again.
It's been pretty fun having nothing to do, though. My job at work is to write JUnit tests for the program we make, which are basically little programs written in Java that test other Java programs. It's pretty tedious, but at the same time I get to learn a lot about the inner workings of Java, which is a language I've never really used before. With all the free time I've had the last couple of days, I've been reading a JUnit book that a guy at work gave me, and doing some other reading online.
I'm not sure why I'm in the mood to write an entry at 2 in the morning, but it could have something to do with that cup of Ice Java that I decided to drink at 1am. I only have two classes tomorrow, though, and one of them I only go to for attendance, so I usually spend my time reading a book.
Thinking about this summer, there are a few things I'd like to reward myself with for completing the year. In other words, an excuse to buy some stuff. I've been getting back into playing console games again, something I've not really had time for since the sweet lazy days of high school.
1. Xenosaga Episode 2. I beat episode 1 a long time ago, but it was a really amazing game. It was the first time I ever actually hated the villain of a video game and wanted to kill them. Very good story telling, and I think if I use the same memory card I can import my old characters.
2. Pragmatic Programmer's Programming Ruby. Ruby is a very cool dynamic language used to build web pages. I've always wanted to build a web page, so I think I might buy some web space and pick up this book.
3. 1&2 Seasons of Seinfeld. Eh, just been wanting to watch them all.
4. A Wii. Morgan and I are -dying- to have one of these, if I can only find one somewhere. And no, badgerdude, not enough moneys to buy a 360 too. We can get addicted to ToP, though.
5. "The New Weird". Book recommended to me by a friend, and it looks awesome. Good to know such a thing exists for when I read every Lovecraft story. It's always sad when you finish something and suddenly realize your finished forever. Harry Potter. *sniffle*
Also been making several new LJ icons, since I finally went and got a paid membership and can now have 30 userpics. You can check those out in my info, but I'll be using a different one periodically.
Morg, remind me to never drink so much coffee so late ever again.
