strangland

just a quick update, because I don't have much time, and I'm so fuckin tired despite having slept in an actual bed last night.

I'm in vancouver, and everything is going pretty well, minus a couple annoying but workable issues with my bank. I very nearly almost ended up sleeping on the street twice thanks to them. But they fixed my problem last night, and I improvised today. I got into coquitlam last night, and spent the night in a motel, as I was warned I wouldn't want to arrive in Vancouver at night, only to find the hostels were closed, and have to spend my first night in an unfamiliar city homeless and alone, surrounded by people going *wanna buy crack? wanna buy some crack? ...crack?* lol I'm told not all of the cities like that, and I've had no experiences like that so far.

I got up this morning, and checked out, and a complete stranger gave me a ride to the sky train so I could get into the city. Also, a complete stranger who worked at the Subway up the street from the motel let me use the phone, and even drove me to the cibc when I was having bank issues. So far this experiment testing the kindness of strangers is a success.

Finding the hostel was pretty easy, people were pretty willing to give me directions. And I found a great place, 170 a week, includes breakfast, only 3 other people in the room, there's internet (1 dollar for 30 minutes) and a bunch of other things, it's really sweet. It's called the Same Sun backpackers lodge, and it's run by a bunch of australians with dredlocks :P

there's also food here as well, a common room, pool, the music that's being played is constantly 90's rock. the whole atmosphere here is pretty sick so far..

anyways, that's a quick update, I'm tired, and almost out of time. today's just a lazy today, tomorrow I'll go job hunting. Now I'm just gonna go relax, maybe nap a little. Maybe later I'll see what's going on in the vein of hostile activities, cause apparently there's a bit going on today. Making friends is an exciting prospect.

I'll post more about the trip up and the characters I met on the bus later.

Take care everyone, hope all is well, miss you all terribly, and I'm safe, I hope you are too.
