Topic: What is the best gift you have ever given someone?

Allegiance is the greatest gift I have given to another. I do not say this lightly, for giving my allegiance to something, someone, I bestow a level of trust that is beyond what I would usually give. I swore my allegiance to Arthur when he asked it of me, I was proud to do so, and prouder still that I, Mordred, his son, would be a part of his Knights. Even though he was unaware that he was indeed my father, I could see within his gaze that he was proud of me, and that made the giving of the gift all the sweeter.

Such things come to dust, in the end. Events progress, as they do, guided by the hands of the Gods, some would say, by Fate, Destiny, still others would say. Events are not guided by mystical forces; they are the result of choices made by men. Placing the reason for events in the hands of such mystical and untouchable beings as Gods, Fate, Destiny, is to deny responsibility for actions, so that one may sleep at peace at night.

I do not shirk my own responsibilities for my actions; I know the full weight of what it is I must do. But that does not make me regret the giving of the gift of my allegiance to Arthur, High King of the Britons. It simply makes it bitter sweet.
