(no subject)
I know, I know, you all are desperately wanting to know how first week went. Haha. Well, here you go...
Monday and Tuesday was orientation. As my DynaVox can do, BORING! We just had lectures about lab safety and such which didn't really pertain to me since I'm not working with animals or chemicals. The animal part really bothered me because they explained acceptable ways to kill them. Yes, I know animal testing is a good thing but it still really bothers me.
The other students are cool. Oh, other than having the streams students in the apartments where I'm at, we have students who are doing some physics program. So it's really really smart people and then me. Yeah I feel like a dumb ass. Anyway, so far I only talked to Keith. He's cool. I really need to talk to the other streams people. They seem cool.
Wednesday was the first day in my lab. I finally can explain Brain Fingers more. Basically, your forehead creates electrical currents (I don't know if I said that right) and they have a headband that has receptors on it that pick up those currents. So I do it by clenching and unclenching my jaw. They have games you play and they are timed so they say I get faster each time.
When I get really good, I am going to use it to play a virtual piano. The head of the music department is going to teach me how to play piano! I'm so excited! He actually got disability services to scan a basic piano book so I can study. So I think that's awesome!
In other news, I fired my new PA. She asked me if I had to "go potty". Yeah. I'm like oh hell no, I am not doing this all summer! I really don't get how other people who are in college can think I'm 5. It's like I'm here, you are here, what the hell do you think I do here? Whatever. I hate people!
