Okay, I don't know what's possessed me today, but I've written about 4k, have finished this chapter below, am about to finish a second, and will likely start on a third chapter before I go to bed and then later go to work. This chapter amused me way more than it maybe should have, given that the Emperor got freaking shot during it. That in itself wasn't comedy material, but the fact that of course Savin was the surgeon on Casio's case was kinda funny to my sense of humor. Even funnier to me was how Savin used the opportunity to get Jazz's number for real this time.

I hope the Emperor's recovery actually is smooth, though I can't help (irrationally?) worrying that something'll go wrong.

I think I did that "A serious thing happened so let me lighten it up a bit" thing. The angst doesn't come from Dad nearly dying, it comes from oh shit, I have to actually be involved with my Empire, now. Which is what the next chapter or two is focusing on.

And of course Savin was Casio's surgeon -- because why wouldn't he be? That kind of coincidence is totally allowed, right, in the writing world? ;)

I'm not 100% on whether his recovery will be smooth or not...
