help leannenstein get a new car!

Dec 09, 2006 10:27

well i must say...i had a lovely time in bellingham...seeing some friends, drinking, seeing the beach, getting in a car wreck and going to the ER...by the way...james and i are going to become hermits and i'm going to have a veloceraptor farm....well...i'd like one.

i bet you'd like to know more about the wreck, huh?

so i'm going to work, and because cops are rampant in bham i'm actually not going over 70, listening to dragonforce, when i see this car going northbound start to pull a u-turn, my first thought was that it was one of those undercover cop cars going to bust some one, up until about the point it didn't stop and it slammed into the side of my car sending my car into an unrecouverable spin into the median ditch to which i start flipping.

at one point when i was upside down and i thought i was going to be stuck like that i was thinking how awesome seatbelts were...i was also thinking about how i'm not going to walk out of this wreck needing reconstructive surgery. i wasn't scared at all during all this, in fact, i some how knew i was going to be walking out of this fine...some reason these are my thoughts as i'm flying through the air.

i finally land, and blood and glass is everywhere, apparently my side airbags did well. first thing i did was look in the rearview mirror to see where all this blood was comming from, and i was really really hoping that it was coming from the darkest spot of blood on my face(which by this point was covered, as well as my neck and little shards of glass were sprinkled in this bloody mess) so i grab a scarf to try to keep it out of my eyes and nose and mouth. i had to crawl out of my passenger door and started making phone calls like mad. james, the folks and work. i think the one to work was the funniest.

but luckily there were a few people that saw the wreck that were nurses and they stayed with me the whole time, two nurses and one going to school to be one. they had me all nice and bundled up wrapping ice to my face and holding my neck. i made one go back and get my cd's from the glove compartment and i wanted my water bottle...which was about 6 feet from my car, as well as anikan skylwalker. oh well. i guess the others involved(about 5 other cars) were okay, but they were all freaking out and crying, and there i was, just chilling...going through shock, cracking jokes about wanting a smoke but it would probably blow us up as we could smell gass coming from my car. the cops and the medics, after checking me out multiple times, were absolutely amazed that i was fine. no whiplash...nothing broken, no bruises, no cuts aside from my hand(which looks like i had a fight with a blackberry bush) and the short gash near my eye. they couldn't believe it based on what my car looked like and what happened to it.
i guess it is kind of a miracle, huh?
a girl, my age, died in a very similar wreck last year.
crazy, huh?

my friends that were coming to get me said that it looked like one of my wheels was missing and that all the cops were saying how it was a "really bad" wreck. god, it must have been so terrifying to be them see my car being pulled out of the median and hearing that. i probably would have started freaking out.

anyways, in the ER they gave me a tetnis shot pulled the glass from my wounds and stitched me up. i look a bit like frankenstein right now. haha. but at one point i was asking if i could use the restroom, and some one made a comment about fight or flight and i told them it was less that than i wanted to get the chunks of glass out of my pants. it was kind of gnarly.

actually it's not as bad as it sounds, only a few stitches, but i bet tomorrow i'm going to be all kinds of sore and black and blue. but right now, my face kinda hurts. you know i might even have walked out of this without a concussion for once! ha!

well...that's the good news...bad news. my beloved car, well...is totaled. but the lady who started all this has insurance. we have to take care of paperwork soon. i promis that's going to give me a headache...i just love how they're telling all these really important things involving money, to people who and in shock. it's crazy.

anyways...until further notice...i have no car. and on the 16th...no job.
awesome!

want to help me find a job so i can get a new jetta?
i'm so sticking with that car. dude...they're scrappy little cars!

THE BELLINGHAM HERALD
3 women hurt in I-5 crash
KIRA MILLAGE

Three people were injured in a five-car crash that shut southbound Interstate 5 for a couple hours near Lake Samish on Friday afternoon.

Mary S. Passmore, 68, and Emma M. Leppala, 84, both of Bellingham, and Leann N. Burkle, 23, of Seattle were taken to St. Joseph Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. Their conditions were unknown Friday evening.

According to the State Patrol, the accident happened as follows: About 4:10 p.m., Passmore was driving a Honda Civic in the right northbound lanes with Leppala as her passenger. Passmore fell asleep and the Civic hit the right-side guardrail and then crossed both northbound lanes and the median before hitting Burkle’s Volkswagen Jetta in the left-hand southbound lane. The Civic continued into the next lane and hit a Ford two-door car before rolling and landing on its roof on the right southbound shoulder. While upside down, the Civic was hit by a minivan, which was then hit by another Civic.

In all, seven people were involved and two cars were totaled, according to the State Patrol. Everyone involved was wearing seatbelts.

Passmore will be charged with negligent driving, according to the State Patrol.
