I always have this fear when I'm doing non-bike things in my bike shoes that my cleats are going to cause me to slip in some way. Wet brick stairs? Marble corridor when I'm dripping wet? Descending a ladder? Climbing into a grainer?

Last night I was leaning over into a dumpster when, finally, it happened. My cleats slipped on some greasy nonsense, causing me to fold over the edge of the dumpster like piranha chomp. I smacked the thing pretty hard but I consider myself to be resilient. Whatever.

There is no bruise this morning, but there is some serious pain. I'm having trouble breathing. Laughing is fairly painful. I'm in shock about it. I think I may have fractured a rib.

For the record, it was totally worth scoring Toby Keith's Boomtown cd.
