I used to go to "Freetown" at their chapel room and um.. Well I told them that god talked to me thought the fizzing in Barqs Root beer and that the world was a lie and then I'd give really obscure biblical references from an older version of the bible (pre King James)and also correct them on the traditional meaning of Satan. Satan was/is an enemy of God; so there is no one Satan but many. And usually the Baptists would freak out saying there was only one Satan and that I was being controlled by the demons... Yeada yeada. Then I told them that I was hooked on drugs and God told me to burn things and so on and so forth.
Yeah I did this when I was like 17... HAA!! I loved pissing those people off..
And eh.. I found that you can't convert them, you can't even express why you believe as you do because they won't listen. I think it's not even that their totally stupid. There are just some people that -need- to believe in something and because of tradition of family or what they have been conditioned to think of as good is what they latch on to. I kinda pity them in a sense.
But on a different setting, there are people who are educated and are Atheists, and well as in terms of History whatever was written in a book they believe to be true. Where as, history texts aren't always correct, their written by people are the information could follow along the correct time line but it's still subject to what ever persuasion that the author is under. As an example, Queen Elizabeth the first. I've read in one book how she was the greatest queen ever, I've also read how she was one of the greatest villeins ever to exist. The events in both books were similar, but the reasonings were totally off. In one it was to protect herself and fellow Protestants. In the other she was being misled by Anti Catholic supporters and did everything in the respect of taking over all of Europe and burning down Rome. -shrugs- Maybe I'm to wild and open minded.. Maybe their just to focused? Who's really to say. Well I am, we're better then they are.
