The game looks pretty awesome, but the gaming media are pretty bad at looking at the photos and videos and drawing any interesting conclusions that aren't blatantly stated by Ubisoft. Come on, some speculation please. There is a curious lack of AC fansites that do this sort of speculation as well, though I may be overlooking some of their forums. So, I've decided to do my own speculation and analysis of the game's feature here.
You can loot bodies.
You can pick up enemy weapons at any time and drop them at any time. This seems like it will likely be accomplished with the game button. Probably Y. I get the feeling that Eagle Vision has been reassigned to one of the bumpers. The other bumper will then open up the weapons menu.
The directional pad could be used for quick assign, or it could be for some accessories. I have no idea. You could even put Eagle Vision there. Seems as if it could also be used for commanding your allies. Like the sic em thing for the mercs.
You can take enemies hostage and of course, execute them.
Counter attacks and those long killing animations are still in here.
You can actually fight barehanded against soldiers now without it being a massacre on your HP, probably since you can disarm your enemies.
Disarming was thought by me to be a sort of a random result of countering successfully when you lack a weapon, but it now seems as if it is a new combat action. So now it'll be something like counter, dodge, and disarm. Hm, perhaps when you disarm in unarmed combat against an armed opponent, you take their weapon and if you have a weapon, you knock it out of the enemy's hands. Also, Ezio seems to discard a lot of weapons in counter attacks. This is probably something that's unavoidable, but it's really shouldn't have an effect on the gameplay itself. Though it's a little sad, kinda, but it brings some nice diversity.
So courteasans are used to blend, mercenaries are used to fight and act as bodyguards, and thieves are apparently used to start a chase. A distraction? Yea, I'm not so sure on this one. The guards chase them? Or they steal things from you, but I'm not really sure what there is to steal in this game besides gold by pickpocketing. It seems like a distraction at best. Maybe weapons? There's something in there about how they use the rooftops as well. If nothing else, it'll be fun to watch the NPCs chase each other on precarious rooftops?
Right and you can throw money.
Double blade/hidden blade, poison blade, hidden gun. Smoke bomb, healing, real bomb, bare fists, throwing knives, personal sword, and something that resembles a man with a flag for a head. Perhaps it's the slot for weapons you pick up from enemies? Or maybe that's the personal sword and the other is the short blade. Huh.
View points make a return. There's apparently a new sort of hop while climbing, so you can climb faster. Sounds like something that's automatic and not really player controlled.
