If I may interrupt the apparent rage that you've worked yourself into, I think that it would be prudent to point out that if your roommate is really so desperate for companionship, it might be in everyone's best interest if you simply let him keep the socks.

I doubt that. They're an artificially animated piece of wool. One wouldn't think that he could kill them by forgetting to feed and water them.

I'm not worried about whether or not he'll be able to keep them alive since I really don't know how you would go about feeding a sock...it's that, it just doesn't seem right. I don't know, maybe it wouldn't hurt if Trevor had a few companions in the dorm...

Why on earth doesn't it seem right? At the very least, they seem to have the consciousness to make noise. Does it seem any more right to you to take that life from them? Socks though they may be.

Excuse me? I know of her, though I'm quite sure that I've never met her in my life. I was simply trying to explain that your roommate may have co-dependency issues and that it's not particularly smart to make snap judgments about things, even if they happen to be moving socks.
