Dear Uncle Cedric,
Thank you for the leather tobacco pouch. The tooled designs are incredibly intricate and lovely.
Mother's health has taken a bad turn and I am embarking tomorrow to visit and help in her convalesces. Her heart (which she has had difficulties with before) has apparently been slowly suffocating. Her physician used a great number of technical terms(75% flow impairment, angioplasty, mesh-stint), but the upshot of it all is that it may have been caught (barely) in time.
While the situation is not so grim as to require your return from abroad, she would welcome a few heartening letters from you. She so treasures your correspondence(as do I).
On a much happier note, I have located a new mount! It is not only the exact same breed as my old faithful steed, but the exact blood-line. She is of pale coloration, but well formed. If the line's temperment holds true than I shall acquire her.
Enclosed are a few bottles of Port. I know your supply is nearly exhausted by now, and I simply wont have you enduring the local equivalent.
I am now as always,
Your loyal Nephew,
Tuan.
Post-Script: Please pray for my journey to be uneventful. You know how much modern conveyances vex me so.
