Sirius was often accused of being mad, but usually people had to grudgingly admit that he was also intelligent. In this case, though, he'd made a stupid mistake.

He was prepared to defend against a bird just fine. He knew the vulnerable spots that birds liked to peck and claw at [a thing better not asked about] but Luke's brother only appeared to be a bird. Inside, he was still a man. And men knew a few things about one another that birds didn't.

In a few very short seconds Sirius went from an amused expression to a wide eyed look of mild panic. An instant later, it was pain. Sirius howled. It was a little feral.

He twitched and shook and twisted, and suddenly there was fur. There were paws and ears, and a massive jawbone full of sharp, adolescent teeth like rows of shiny white needles. That jaw could break a human wrist into halves, and it could also delicately pick out a single gooseberry from a bowl without breaking it.

The jaw opened.

He supposed he should have been able to see that coming; anyone that could turn other people into animals could do the same to themselves, right? Still, that realization came a little too late, but not so much that Asch couldn't avoid the salivating jaws intent on making him a small morsel. He bolted away, leaving a scarce few feathers behind and ducking behind the replica, half nesting in his hair.

As much as he hated to admit it, Luke was his best protection at the moment.

Luke was just about to pull the bird away when... well he wasn't sure just WHAT was going on but suddenly Sirius started to grow fur and extra features! The replica stared in wide eyed wonder as the boy transformed into a beast then slowly into something resembling a large dog!

The feel of Asch fluttering up his neck and nesting in his hair (what was with the tiny critters and his hair?!) sent a tickle through him that snapped him out of his daze. "S-Sirius?!" He squeaked out and started standing up. A hand moving up to gently cover Asch and keep him safely in place.

"Wow, wow, calm down bo- Sirius." He said awkwardly not sure if he should be talking to him like he was a dog or like a person.

Padfoot barked angrily at Luke's hair and made a low growl in the back of his throat. He snapped just to make sure his message was clear, then curled up unhappily beneath the apple tree and er... licked his wounds.

Damn mangy mutt! Asch didn't like cowering, but he was just a bird. he didn't stand a chance aganst that shaggy monster. He did, however, tweet at him angrily from behind Luke's head, though he still didn't budge.

Luke frowned as the dog retreated and lightly stroked Asch's tiny feathery head with his finger in an attempt to settle him down. "Shut up before you get yourself eaten."

This day just kept getting weirder and weirder. He was all for something new but this was a lot of neat stuff to take in all at once! First a magic fight, then bird Asch and now... dog Sirius? Just wow and did some of his poyo's start to stir? No... no way could his luck possibly be that bad.

"Sirius...? Sirius are you okay?" He slowly makes his way over to the dog and spots where he's licking. "O-oh sorry!" He turns away quickly to give him some much needed privacy.

Sirius finished disinfecting the claw marks and transformed back to his usual boy shape. He wiped his mouth and drew his wand again.

"Bring him here," he said crossly. "But keep your hands on him."

He secretly hoped that Luke was one of those people who squeezed just a little when they held pets, or bloody fonic thingy gits.

Luke stared frozen for a moment once again when Sirius changed back into a boy like it was NOTHING. "H-huh?" He breathed out still a little dazed but seemed to snap out of it when that wand was suddenly pointed towards them. So much power in such a small stick...

"O-okay but just... don't hurt him..." He frowned seeing how angry Sirius looked but didn't think he'd actually do anything painful to Asch...again

Though Luke normally wasn't the best with animals Asch was far from some stupid cheagel so Luke gently cupped the little bird and held him out to Sirius. "Just stay still Asch..."

"That's up to him," Sirius snorted. "Watch your fingers."

He tapped his wand to the tuft of feathers at the top of Luke's bird brained brother's head. "Finite."

Asch let out an annoyed tweet at being swatted with that annoying stick of his... and then let out an even more alarmed trill as it felt like his insides were going to burst...

...and then there was a rather grumpy Asch growing on Luke's hands. Obviously, this didn't work very well; as he grew back into himself, he flailed, knocking the two of them over.

When all was said and done, Asch was face down in the dirt, letting out an annoyed grumble, as he had a dreck on top of him.

"Oi! Asch stay still!" Luke barked out at him when the bird started to wiggle and grow larger! "A-Asch!" He shouted and tried to let go but it was too late and he fell forward with a soft 'oof!'.

Blinking he started to lift his head and felt something warm and lumpy under him. "Asch!" He said cheerfully when he say his original was back in one piece and feather free! "Welcome back!" He sat up on the not-twin's lower back still grinning happily down at him. "Thanks Sirius."

Sirius snorted, and took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket.

"If he starts throwing ice again, I'll turn him into something slimy next."

Speaking of slime... Asch let out an irritated noise, trying to sit up. However, with Luke on his back, he couldn't get very far. He let out an irritable noise, giving Luke a good shove... right into a group of poyos. Oops.

Luke yelped when he was shoved and landed on the poyos with a squish. It seemed to set off the survivors and they all started screaming around him. "DAMMIT!" He growled and kicked at Asch's backside. "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU DID!"

Well, forget that.

Sirius scooped up his own poyos. "THAT WAS ACE," he shouted over the screaming, "LET'S DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME."

With a very delicate turn oh Merlin, that hurt on his heel and a loud CRACK! Sirius vanished from sight.
