Stay With Me Tonight

Jaejoong realises that having a heartbreak is the point at which your heart is so badly damaged- beyond repair, that it seems to be non-existent. Though there isn’t any physical injury, no scar no bruise, he knows it is a heartbreak because it hurts there, right in the chest where Yoochun has taken away his heart. And it leaves an empty soul in him.

“Yoochun-ah,” Jaejoong turns to look at the empty car seat beside him and imagines an invisible Yoochun seating there. “Its 3am, lets go drink soju” Jaejoong whispers, over the loud music in the background. Jaejoong hears Yoochun’s voice from the stereo, singing stay with me tonight. He smiles; he feels Yoochun’s presence even though he isn’t there.

Jaejoong accelerates.

He doesn’t stop when the traffic lights turn red. He doesn’t stop even when he hears Yoochun’s voice at the back of his head telling him not to speed because it's dangerous.

You're telling me not to speed even though you did yesterday? At this exact same highway and the exact same time. Yoochun, you died in a carcrash. You died in a carcrash, and that's the stupidest way to die.

Jaejoong grabs the glass bottle and gulps the drink down. Alcohol is the only thing (besides Yoochun but he is gone now) that keeps him going. Alcohol is the only thing that takes away all his sorrows as easily as how Yoochun does it. Alcohol is the familiar word that comes to his tongue whenever he thinks about Yoochun. Yoochun is like alcohol, acidic yet refreshing at the same time and this is the way Jaejoong likes it.

The bittersweet taste washes down his throat, leaving a lingering feeling that spells Park Yoochun.

Yoochun, I miss you, Jaejoong whispers in a croaky voice, hands ruffling over his messy bronze-coloured hair.

Yoochun are you still there? Jaejoong feels stupid for talking to himself but still, he does it because he can feel Yoochun’s presence enveloping around him.

At 6 am in the morning, Jaejoong wakes up with a hangover as strong as his heartbreak.

He opens up his eyes and realises that Yoochun’s face wouldn’t be the first thing he would see every morning.
