Victory!

So the trip to the casino was a victorious one this time around; indeed - I walked out of the place with more money in my pocket than I walked in with. A whopping $45 after a $100 buy-in. Insignificant to some, glorious to me.

I played exceptionally well, I think. At least half of the hands I saw the flop with, I played to a conclusion. This means I didn't call the blind or the pre-flop raise just to see the flop, only to throw away my hand. I was aggressive when I played, a few pre-flop raises that paid off. I also bet very well post-flop. I am thoroughly pleased with my performance.

Highlights were the first hand and the last hand, with a couple honorable mentions. It's 1/2 NL Hold'em

First:
I sit down am dealt A8 os in middle position. Calls and folds come around to me, and I raise to 7. Get two callers, including the big stack who I saw take a decent pot down right as I was sitting down. So I admit, I was a bit nervous.

Flop comes down rainbow: Axx - no straight draws or anything I'm particularly worried about. I get checked to and bet $15 and get both people to fold, scooping up a nice pot for my first hand at the table.

I keep up the solid play, losing some money to blinds, some to calls. I remember the one hand I wasn't happy with was I called the blind with like a K7 or something like that, and once I called, I knew I should have put in a pre-flop raise. Flop comes down nothing for me, and I check. The guy bets at me and I promptly fold. I wasn't happy.

The "I made the right play, but if I had made the wrong move SHAZZAM!" hand was I got J2 os. I call the BB but end up getting raised, and I want to say re-raised. It was either that or the first raise was a substantial one with a caller. So I knew then my J2 probably was no good so I fold. Flop comes down JJ2. D'oh! Oh well, again, statistically and psychologically, it was the right play.

The last hand, I get dealt J10 of diamonds. I pre-flop raise to 6 and get a couple of callers. One of them was the guy who pushed me off the hand I wasn't happy about. But I had been watching him and noticed he was a bit of calling station and a bit of a sick gambler (Shortly after I had sat down, I heard him lament "I never win")

Flop comes down Jx(D)x. I think the second X might have been an ace or a king, but I can't recall. Either way, I bet 10 and Sick Gambler calls me. The river comes down 5 of diamonds, so I've picked up a flush draw. But I got a little nervous cuz maybe he has AX of diamonds and so he had flopped a bigger pair and has a higher flush, so I check. He bets 20 and I very much consider folding. But I've got that feeling and so I make the call. River comes down 4 diamonds. I decide to take the initiative and bet 30 and he calls. Flip 'em over and he had a higher pair or two pair, not sure exactly. And at first the dealer declares my pair of jacks, and then someone corrects him "No, that's a flush!"

Damn right that's a flush!

I raked in about 70-80 bucks on that pot, watched the next hand, and promptly slipped out of the game a slightly richer man.
