Homeplot Not-Date and Klarion Attack Post

Mar 28, 2011 14:47

Yesterday had been rough, talking with her mother and dealing with Luke. So today, Cassie just wanted to have some fun. She wanted to show Sam some of her world and really, just hang out like the group of teenagers that they were. Kon had agreed to take care of Luke and Cassie was going to owe him something awful when they got home. Though he had ( Read more... )

Sam was glad they were going out. Not, "Going out" going out, but he was glad they were getting out of the Young Justice headquarters and getting something to eat and seeing a movie. He was secretly amused that they were essentially getting Cissie and Bart to go on a date, even if they didn't know it. Even Sam could tell that there was something between the two of them that was more than just close friends. So, this was sort of a secret "Make Cissie and Bart go out on a date" thing, and he was cool with that.

"So there's really a chance that we're all back on the island, sleeping, and this is some sort of weird dream?" Sam asked.

"Not a chance. That's really what's happening." Cassie said as she munched down a french fry she'd just dipped in Cissie's chocolate milk shake. "It happens every once in a while. Like the weekend last month where I was sleeping? I was dreaming I went home with Zuko."

Cassie kept glancing over at Bart and Cissie, trying to see if they realized what was going on. She hoped maybe the atmosphere would help, without the weirdness of the island. And if not, well, hanging out with her friends was the best way she could think of spending a weekend at home.

[order: Sam, Cassie, Cissie and then Bart!]

"I woke up in New York with Claire that weekend," Cissie chimed in after taking a bite from her burger. "This has got to be the same thing especially with all of us being here."

It was kind of nice to be out and doing "normal" things, even if it all felt uncomfortably like a double-date. It wasn't, of course, since she and Bart weren't doing anything remotely like dating and Sam and Cassie were just clearly in denial.

"Final Fantasy 8 with Zell. We landed right smack in the middle of the plains of Esthar before the Lunar Cry," Bart said, not sure what else to say. He was glad they could get away with ordering a lot of sides to "share" so he didn't look like the pig his metabolism demanded he be, but it still was hard.

"But I guess it could be worse. I mean, this is practically our golden age."

Sam figured he really had lucked out. He definitely wouldn't have fared too well in the plains of Esthar, although he probably could have handled New York with Claire. Unless Claire came from some sort of post-apocalyptic zombie world or something like that.

"So are we all dreaming the same dream, or is one of you dreaming it and you pulled the rest of us here?" Sam asked.

"I think that's how it works," Cassie said as she gestured at Sam with a french fry. "One of us is dreaming and the others come with. I'd say it was me but there is no way I'd have brought Luke here so I have no idea." She popped the french fry into her mouth with a shrug.

Cissie took an onion ring and casually slid the rest of them over to Bart. If anyone else wanted more, they could get their own - he was a speedster and he needed to eat and that was all there was to it.

"Well, it must be you or me, Cass," Cissie pointed out. "If, you know, there's some kind of logic to this. I know that's crazy, but hear me out! If it were Kon or Bart, we'd probably be in the Titans Tower or something, right? We woke up in Young Justice headquarters and Kon was wearing his old uniform and you and I are behind everyone in the timeline, you know?"

She made a face and took a drink. "All of this makes my head hurt so I think we need a new topic."

"Yeah, maybe. I don't know. I hadn't really been back long enough for any place to feel like much of home," Bart admitted, shrugging a little and taking a mouthful of fries before he continued.

"At least it doesn't look like we're in the middle of a war or anything."

"Well, I've never been here, or met Luke, so it's not me," Sam said, agreeing with Cissie's logic. He hoped that it was Cassie's dream, if for no other reason than he wanted her to dream about him. Of course, that meant she dreamed about Kon and Luke too, but he could easily ignore that part of his logic.

"Also, do you know if what happens to us here will happen to the real world? If I trip and fall on my face, am I going to wake up with a broken nose?"

Luke and Kon made more logical sense then Sam. Kon belonged in this setting and Luke had just rocked her entire world to the point the only thing Cassie had though of when she found herself here was that she needed to talk to her Mom. Sam was the one who didn't really fit. Unless he was here to tell her sub-conscious something it had been ignoring.

Oh holy Hera, maybe she was the one dreaming.

"That I don't know." Cassie said in reply, as she gave Cissie a playful look at the way her friend was making sure Bart's metabolism was properly fed. "I mean, I was really badly burned in Zuko's dream but I woke up on the island just fine. So I guess not but with the island...you never know."

Cissie firmly ignored Cassie's look in favor of munching on her burger. She'd hope for a new topic but maybe understandably, everyone else was still stuck on the whole waking up here thing. At least it was quiet so far and no one seemed to be after them, so that was something.

"It could be worse," she mentioned thoughtfully. "At least everything's sort of - well, I don't want to say anything and jinx it but you know what I mean."

"Tell me about it," Bart said, laughing. "Of course, I can't help but wonder what everyone is thinking, what with it have happened already last month."

He gestured with a handful of fries, grinning. "But I've got you to protect me, since I'm kinda short a change of clothes if things get messy."

"Well, either way, these are the best dream burgers I have ever had," Sam said, reaching over to snatch a fry off of Cassie's plate before taking a bite of it. He hadn't missed how Cissie was taking care of Bart either and thought it was pretty adorable.

Part of him hoped that it was Cassie's dream, because that would mean that she wanted him here. Or that at least he was on her mind, right?

"Oh now you've done it Cissie. Even just thinking it can cause things to go nuts." Cassie said with a playful roll of her eyes. "As long as we stay on this planet and doesn't involved Diana yelling at us, I'll be good. It would be nice to stretch my powers a little while I have them."

"Hey!" She said in response to Sam stealing her fries, elbowing him playfully, careful to keep her strength in check. For that she stole a sip from his soda.
