So today in Epstein's class we were talking about screenwriting and how to get inspired and other crap. I really want to get through this set-up to the more important stuff so forgive me if I'm terse. Anyway, one of the things the book and Epstein mentioned was adapting books to screen. No fucking shit. But anyway, it suddenly occurred to me that adapting one of my favorite books ever, Youth In Revolt, would not only be great fun but a good career opportunity. So when I get home I do a quick IMDb search just to make sure it had never been optioned before. Turns out it had, which is both good and bad.
Apparently in 1998 MTV optioned it for a series and filmed a pilot but it was never picked up.
And as of right now it's been optioned as a film with a tentative release date of 2005, although it'll probably be late 2006. While this is gay for me career-wise, it's still awesome news as long as they don't screw it up.
But the hits just keep on coming!
I was also led to the website of the book/author which I did not know existed, and it turns out there's a sequel that I must begin reading immediately. What a day.
