A patron at 58th St. the other day asked me if our computers at Aguilar could open Quicktime files, so I told him to email me his video and I would try it. It was a video of him walking on a contraption that was basically a treadmill with a wheel at each corner, hooked up so that the wheels turned when you walked on the treadmill. The patron explains his invention thusly:

"The invention is called treadcycle and is a treadmill powered bicycle. I am an inventor with some revolutionary things that are going to be coming out, soon. I just got information that my concepts, which will be important for national security, were told about to the mayor, through a friend, and will be showed to him, shortly. Will definitely, stay in touch with latest developments. Now, humans can become bionic with the treadcycle when they can "walk" faster than a moving truck!!!"

You heard it hear first, folks. Bionic humans fighting for national security on treadmills. Look out, Osama.

Good article on homeless people in the libraries. Scroll down to "What They Didn't Teach Us in Library School." A better title might be "Keeping Your Library's Carpet Urine-Free."
