Run Like A Girl

Last Saturday, I was not happy with how my floorshow corset fit. I hadn't worn it Since Feb 20th due to auditioners, theme nights...etc. It did not fit as I remember. It was A LOT tighter...and my boobs wouldn't stay tucked in! I don't mind my boobs being bigger, but I DO mind my waist being bigger!

So, I've gone on a mission to fix this problem. I'm making a point to eat healthy. Well, I always eat healthy...but I'm making a point to avoid the non-healthy things. I've increased my exercise. I had grown relaxed in my exercise regimen since my last marathon. Yesterday I worked out on the elliptical trainer, and then lifted various weights. The day before I worked out on the elliptical trainer then took an hour long dance class (which further proved that I have NO rhythm).

Don't get me wrong. I don't think I'm fat. I just want to get back to my preferred size. Nothing but good can come of this. Soon my floorshow corset will fit the way it should. I am getting an early start on training for the Nike Women's Marathon (OR the DC Marine Corp Marathon if I don't get into Nike). Besides, my doctor wants me to do this anyway due to my unusually high blood pressure.

Last October I went off estrogen based birth control because it was (presumably) giving me high blood pressure. Since then, my blood pressure has fluctuated up and down, but it is still very high...especially considering my age and healthy weight range. High blood pressure does not run in my family...at least on my Mom's side. (I have no idea about my father's side.) My doctor has ordered blood work to check various things. While we wait for the blood work to come back, he has instructed me to cut down on sodium, make sure I'm eating 5 servings of fruits and veggies everyday (yay!), vary my exercise routine to include a little bit of weight lifting (yay!), and start taking garlic and Co-Q-10 supplements.

I really really like my primary care doctor. If he is unsure of something, he runs a test rather than guessing (a welcome change from my previous doctor, whom I had to BEG for any kind of test...when I was super sick in 2007 that guy's solution was to throw a prescription at it and see if it worked). When practical, he recommends natural remedies first. He doesn't like prescribing medication, and I don't like taking it. It's a perfect match. He won my loyalty during my first visit...he recommended two types of tea.

Anyway, I'm very excited to see all the positive results from my extra effort of eating right and exercising.

PS: Anyone else have a 24 Hour Fitness membership? :) Let's go play at the gym!
