Before i go on to start my very second week of working in NY, i would like to reflect upon my very first of working in NY.
I worked over on Columbus Ave in Manhattan all week training with 2 other new hires and our trainer, Ola. It was great. Everyone there is so excited about the job that they do and it definitly catches on to a girl.
Also, it was great to get to go into the city. Yes, the hour and a half train + each way everyday can be a little taxing, but it was so worth it. My daily rising time of 5:30 complete with daily morning shower and business casual attire was something new from my every-other-day shower and not mcuh to do and not until the afternoon sort of routine. It felt productive and refreshing, which is exactly what i had been looking for.
I started work every day at either 9 or 9:30 and was let out between 4 and 5:30. At lunch, i spearheaded the outdoor half hour. The other 2 trainees and myself would bring our bagged lunches and sit across the street on a bench next to the Natural History Museum to get a little sun and warmth. It was a nice little routine.
Monday morning i started my week with breakfast with Chris Potter. It was nice to see him.
Tuesday i hung with Kate Strasser which was so great, plus, it always amazes me at how no matter how long it seems we haven't actaually seen each other, nothing has changed while together but the location. I love that girl.
Thursday i just went meandering about for awhile instead of catching the 1st train out so i could take in the city a litle more, window shop, people watch, and enjoy a delicious smoothie.
Friday i met up with Meredith Bennett and Kate Kirkland at the MoMA which was fabulous, followed by wandering around Times Square around dinner time.
Friday after arriving back home, i felt like i needed to go out somewhere to celebrate my very first week of employment so we went to a little bar in town here and had a beer. It was great.
My weekend has ben productive. Lots and Lots and Lots of cleaning. Made some food and even cookies (yeah, i can be domestic). Now its Sunday and i want to go get the keys for the new place, take some measurements and head to IKEA for some things to go drop into the new place. That way next weekend can be a little more relaxing. Get it, put stuff right away, and chill. Yay!
I talked to my parents yesterday which was nice too. It made me feel pretty awesome about what i am doing over here because they were telling me about a buch of the other neighborhood kids and basically every single one of them had done something to screw themselves in the long run in the past couple weeks. Not that i should be one to judge. But i am most definitly happy to be me in NY right now.
So there it is. Here and happy. That was the plan. And here i am.
