freakin genius
yeah okay, so i was thinking, i'm tired of the crappy rings that come with my phone, and i don't want to pay for rings that i don't even approve of. even if there are good songs, they usually make crappy cuts, or use stupid parts of songs. and i'm sick of seeing those banners that say "outdance the girl and win a ringtone!" "outlift arnie and win a ringtone" "catch the kid and get a ringtone" "shoot the bad guy and win a ringtone" "be an idiot and win a ringtone". sometimes i play those things just to see how long i can go without "winning". it's much more fun. so anyway, i decided to make my own. so i thought i'd let you in on it in case you want a piece. first, download audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ it's a crappy program but it gets the job done, and it's free/legal. this is of course unless you have a mac, which intuitively gave all mac users garage band, and happens to be infinitely sweeter than audacity. anyway, in audacity, import the song you want, delete part of it that you don't want (your phone probably doesn't have a ton of memory), make a fade out at the end or whatever you want, then export it as an mp3. otherwise export it as a wav if you can't figure that out, then import it to itunes and convert it to an mp3 in there. then go to http://www.myspacegeeks.com/wap/ and upload the file. it gives you instructions and everything, you just need to go to a website on your phone and download the mp3 once it's uploaded. there may be an easier way, i know my roommate has a cable that hooks his phone to his computer... just thought i'd share that, since i never write anything in here anyway, and only like one person reads this anymore.
