It's not my fault. I knew I was in trouble when
whitehousemom wrote about her experience with
McDonalds coffee. I was previously avoiding the whole situation because I just didn't want it to be true.
I figured there was no flippin way that crappy McDonalds could even come close to the quality that the drive-thru stands acheive, let alone Starbucks quality. So I just wasn't going to waste my money trying something that was sure to be bad. But I do trust
whitehousemom's judgment, so even though I knew nothing good could come of it, I went ahead and got a mocha at McDonalds today while Ben was romping in the playplace.
Big mistake.
I will take a minute to note that it wasn't quite as cheap as she said (different prices for different parts of the country? or maybe I ordered something different, I dunno) but was still a lot cheaper than bux. It was comparible in price to the cheap drive-thru stands, but with a few advantages. First, you don't need to have cash. Second, you can go in and sit down, and they even have stuff to keep your kid busy so you can enjoy the WHOLE CUP without having to get up once. Third, there's a McDonald's on every corner that there isn't already a Starbucks on. So if you need coffee, it's never far away.
Oh crap, that last one might not be a positive thing after all ...
Man, I have enough trouble hanging on to my cash as it is, cheap, prevanlant, delicious coffee is not going to help. Not to mention, at one point not too long ago, I had managed to cut back and then actually QUIT caffeine altogether.
Good for me!!! Um, except for the part where it only lasted about three weeks. Opps.
Conclusion. McDonald's is evil and
whitehousemom is their minion.
