The condo we loved finally sold. On the very day that we agreed to aggressively drop the price of our house in order to make sure that we could buy it. :-(
But there are others in that same complex/location. They are much cheaper, but not as nice. If we get one, it will need work. We're going to look tomorrow probably. If we can get approved to buy one without the contingency, we will put an offer down and remodel ourselves. If we can't, we will rent. There's nothing else out there in our price range that we would want to actully live in.
I just consolidated our remaining debt, so that should REALLY help with the debt to income ratio, to only have one required payment going out per month, instead of four. The consolidation loan is 0 percent until Sept. 2009 (go high credit scores go!) so we will also be saving a ton of money in interest by doing it this way. There wasn't even a balance transfer fee.
My deadline for us getting out of here is July 1. If we end up buying (which I doubt) I can fudge it some, considering that closing takes awhile and everyone knows that. But I am at my wits end living here and feel that the help we've received has more than gotten us on our feet again. To continue to just take and take and take when we're no longer in need is beyond rude.
Also, my mom wants us to go to see Grandma Billings for her 101st birthday in August. She said that Ben made Grandma so happy last year, we should do it again. Ha ha :-) Stephen is still deciding what he wants to do. His family's annual camping trip is during the same week, and we haven't been in years and years. He'd love to do both, but the problem is that he doesn't have any paid vacation, so every day of work he misses is a HUGE financial hit to us. So possibly, Ben and I will go and Stephen will stay behind and work. (My mom has offered to pay our plane tickets, since I told her that there was no way in frozen over hell I was going to drive to California with a 2 year old in the car.) Stephen needs to decide soon though, because if he's going to go, he has to ask for the time off now.
That's all I can think of for right now ... hope everyone had a nice weekend!
