The toner dance

You know, I heard once that the most expensive liquid on the planet isn't oil or anything like that, its printer ink. No joke, think about how much money you pay, and how much you get. Now multiply it up so that you get a per gallon price. If I remember right, its like hundreds of dollars! I remember when I lived at home my mom would get so mad at me for printing things off the internet instead of just jotting them down on a piece of paper (driving directions from mapquest comes to mind as a repeat offender) because it took up so much ink from our color printer to print the whole page with the maps as well as all the ads. (I'm pretty sure this was before "print view" existed, or at least before I knew about it.)

Once laser printers became more popular than ink jet ones, you then had to learn the toner dance. Seriously, at my old place of employment, they would only replace the toner after like five different people did the toner dance (it had to be witnessed by the tech guy or else he didn't believe you that you already did it) and THEN they would replace it. OK, I get that they are trying to save money, but if you can't read your papers and have to print everything twice, that can't be that good for costs either ... See, what they should have done, is gone to this Web site to purchase Canon toner and other office supplies for a 15 percent discount. When you're talking about one of the most expensive liquids on the planet, you sure can use all the savings you can get!
